Hi HA,

I can't believe I did this, but I also can't believe its only 3' deep there in that section of the channel. I should have launched from the 2nd set of ramps. Its hard to tell from the chart but it looks 6' . Guess I should have trimmed the heck out of it Oh well, its been years since I have been on the water Guess I'm a rookie again

Here is the chart , the red arrow I drew indicates my trouble

Hey Beta,
I have heard about the noise I also heard that their paint stinks
When I talked to them they said 4 days to NY Depending how you count it it will be Friday or Monday the latest. I am really hoping friday so I can take her out again on Saturday or Sunday.

That's a tricky channel to navigate from the look of things...that 3ft spot probably keeps the local marinas busy installing new drives and props.

I can't believe it's that shallow heading out into the sound either, we deal with the same stuff on Lake Huron depending on where we go.

BTW I almost took a job across the way from you in Darien, CT a few years back...I decided that the housing prices were a bit steep in that area:rolleyes::D

Good luck with the shipping, the sooner the better!

wow you aint kidding that might not be the best ramp to go out of until you get your sea legs!

geez.....shalllow as heck....looks like trim up alot and putt putt out of there....wait till you get out of the channel and past the 3rd bouys before lowering the drive and kicking it in the rear.......:p

Bill AWSOME..congrats on the new drive order!

Bill go out of Asharoken ramp instead about 10 miles from your house thereabouts .:D..WAY WAY beter...that ramp you went out of was a death harbor! shifting sands...shallow for 1/2 mile...uuuhg.....

I wish I could, its a different town, I live in the town of Smithtown I would have to pay a per launch and parking fee

If you look at my death harbor it has 2 boat ramps, the 1st one as soon as you come through the gates is the one I used and has those real low areas. The 2nd one up the road from there states its 6' on the map and has the actual Marina and docked boats I am going to use that one next time BUT I am definitely gonna trim the drive up and put my trim tabs down to keep the stern up as high as possible

Hey Bill,
Glad to hear you won't be off the water that long. After you get the new drive you may want to get the old one rebuilt to keep for a spare.
My drives are 1.98 and 1.84. Not much help for you.
Keep us posted.
The pics and Video looked great.
Take care my friend

Hi Bob,
The drive I had on her is a 1.65, the new one is a 1.47 . Funny story with the 1.65 the engine didn't have to work at all the engine rpm responded in the blink of an eye

I just ran the prop calc with the 1.65 and 15% slip the boat should run 61mph. WELL, if it can still handle the 25p prop with a 15% slip which is more than I think it will have. Typical slip is 7-12, with this setup the boat at 5000 will be doing 69mph
I don't think I will ever do WOT with her, well maybe just once to check :D

Well here is an update from UPS :D

Status: In Transit - On Time
Scheduled Delivery Date: 08/06/2010
WooHoo Maybe I can get her on the water for Sunday!!!! I have a family BBQ to go to on Saturday :( If it gets here early enough Friday, I might be able to get her installed and have her ready for the next maiden voyage :D.

08/03/2010 6:22 P.M. ORIGIN SCAN

I'm sorry for your misfortune, HVAC. But on the upside, boat looks great on the water. Hopefully things will run smooth for ya now. I'll have a beer for you this weekend. ;)

Re: The R?surrection of the SeaGem

Hey Bill,
Tough luck on the drive.
Today must have been the day for trouble. We had ROTO CAST tools coming in from a supplier today and the truck crashed and burnt. Our tools didn't survive the fire. They were nickle shells.
Not as important as your drive but we needed them at work. :D:p:D
I hope you still get the drive, in time for the week end.
Take care
Bob

I hear it's hereditary, so we must be related  seriously though, mine seems to have turned the corner and things are looking up...sure they will with you as well...glad to see the progress you have made, don't know why/how I missed a bunch lately...keep a stiff upper lip..if nothing else that will keep the liquor from running back out ;) ,

Probably Jughead

Just checked again and the status hasn't changed. The Only thing I have going is I know lots of time if the packages get to the hub by 5am it might still make the truck.
If there is no progress tomorrow am or if it shows it just at the terminal I am going to call them and see if I can pick it up at their terminal.

OUCH!!!!
That puts a damper on your boating season :(
I paid for it on credit card and they e-mailed me the invoice. I will print it up and along with anything else that comes with it, packing slip their printed invoice etc. I will put it all in my safe

Well I still haven't gotten the drive in and the status still shows TRAIN DERAILMENT  I called UPS before and they were no help. I went out today and bought the oil & mounting gasket set. I even broke down and bought Humminbird fish finder with a depth alarm :D to make sure I don't do this again LOL

This is all of course contingent on actually getting my new drive so I can take her back out lol

EDIT- So now I can honestly say I am livid!!!!!! It has been 25hrs since the train derailment and still no update! Making matters worse where I was supposed to be working on sunday, the kids got chickenpox shots and now are all sick. I have never had the chickenpox and there was no shot then I was a kid. Needless to say I can't go near there and now I can't even take the kids out on the boat cause it doesn't have a out drive

Thanks PSH With the HD crash although I was able to rescue my e-mail files I haven't installed outlook yet ( I had lent my brother my MS Office disk) so I don't even know if the tracking # status has changed

The sick kids aren't mine they are at my customers house thats why I can't go near there.
