Normally, I start these things out by saying "My Fellow Americans." Not doing it this time. If the polls are any indication, I don't know who more than half of you are anymore. I do know something terrible has happened, and that you're really not fellow Americans any longer.

I'll cut right to the chase here: I quit. Now before anyone gets all in lather about me quitting to avoid impeachment, or to avoid prosecution or something, let me assure you: there's been no breaking of laws or impeachable offenses in this office.

The reason I'm quitting is simple. I'm fed up with you people.

I'm fed up because you have no understanding of what's re ally going on in the world. Or of what's going on in this once-great nation of ours. And the majority of you are too dang lazy to do your homework and figure it out.

Let's start local. You've been sold a bill of goods by politicians and the news media. Polls show that the majority of you think the economy is in the tank. And that's despite record numbers of homeowners, including record numbers of MINORITY homeowners. And while we're mentioning minorities, I'll point out that minority business ownership is at an all-time high. Our unemployment rate is as low as it ever was during the Clinton Administration. I've mentioned all those things before, but it doesn't seem to have sunk in.

Despite the shock to our economy of 9/11, the stock market has rebounded to record levels and more Americans than ever are participating in these markets. Meanwhile, all you can do is whine about gas prices, and most of you are too damn stupid to realize that gas prices are high because there's increased demand in other parts of the world, and because a small handful of noisy idiots are more worried about polar bears and beachfront property than your economic security.

We face real threats in the world. Don't give me this ?blood for oil" thing. If I was trading blood for oil I would've already seized Iraq 's oil fields and let the rest of the country go to hell. And don't give me this 'Bush Lied People Died' crap either. If I was the liar you morons take me for, I could've easily had chemical weapons planted in Iraq so they could be 'discovered.' Instead, I owned up to the fact that the intelligence was faulty. Let me remind you that the rest of the world thought Saddam had the goods, same as me. Let me also remind you that regime change in Iraq was official US policy before I came into office. Some guy named ' Clinton ' established that policy. Bet you didn't know that, did you?

You idiots need to understand that we face a unique enemy. Back during the cold war, there were two major competing political and economic models squaring off. We won that war, but we did so because fundamentally, the Communists wanted to survive, just as we do. We were simply able to outspend and out-tech them.

That's not the case this time. The soldiers of our new enemy don't care if they survive. In fact, they want to die. That'd be fine, as long as they weren't also committed to taking as many of you with them as they can. But they are. They want to kill you. And the bastards are all over the globe.

You should be grateful that they haven't gotten any more of us here in the United States since September 11. But you're not. That's because you've got no idea how hard a small number of intelligence, military, law enforcement and homeland security people have worked to make sure of that. When this whole mess started, I warned you that this would be a long and difficult fight. I'm disappointed how many of you people think a long and difficult fight amounts to a single season of 'Survivor'.

Instead, you've grown impatient. You're incapable of seeing things through the long lens of history, the way our enemies do. You think that wars should last a few months, a few years, tops.

Making matters worse, you actively support those who help the enemy. Every time you buy the New York Times, every time you send a donation to a cut-and-run Democrat's political campaign, well, dammit, you might just as well Fedex a grenade launcher to a Jihadist. It amounts to the same thing.

In this day and age, it's easy enough to find the truth. It's all over the Internet. It just isn't on the pages of the New York Times or on NBC News. But even if it were, I doubt you'd be any smarter. Most of you would rather watch American Idol.

I could say more about your expectations that the government will always be there to bail you out, even if you're too stupid to leave a city that's below sea level and has a hurricane approaching. I could say more about your insane belief that government, not your own wallet, is where the money comes from. But I've come to the conclusion that were I to do so, it would sail right over your heads.

So I quit. I'm going back to Crawford. I've got an energy-efficient house down there (Al Gore could only dream) and the capability to be fully self-sufficient. No one ever heard of Crawford before I got elected, and as soon as I'm done here pretty much no one will ever hear of it again. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to die of old age before the last pillars of America fall.

Oh, and by the way, Cheney's quitting too. That means Pelosi is your new President. You asked for it. Watch what she does carefully, because I still have a glimmer of hope that there're just enough of you remaining who are smart enough to turn this thing around in 2008.

So that's it. God bless what's left of America. Some of you know what I mean.

The rest of you, buzz off.

I just don't really think the man could put that many coherent sentences together all by himself. :D

I think a lot of us would like to make that speech, but the President is not going to. He is not a quitter.

In the face of opposition from every quarter he is staying the course that an overwhelming number of the American people agreed to back in 2002. He said then it would be a long road ahead. Anymore anything over 30 days is an eternity in this country.

Will he make a speech like this, no, but I sure would like to at times.

GW would probably actually spell speech the way the title of this thread spells it too.

Sorry, but that won't do it. He hasn't owned up to the weather machine and his desire to destroy all chocolate cities. He hasn't condemned our troops as Nazi's or Terrorists yet. He hasn't admitted that he, singlehandedly has raised the temperature of the globe. Look he actually wanted every child to be able to read and have teachers accountable. How will that generation actually be able to vote democrat if they can read and use critical thinking skills? And what a liar, we have the worst economy in the past 100 years or so. War Hero Kerry said so.

He hasn't owned up to enjoying the torture of puppies on off days with Cheney. Does this mean that Laura will be closing the bordello in the Lincoln bedroom? How dare he cut off the high tech pipeline to China that Bill Clinton worked so hard to establish. I guess the buddist monks who have taken a vow of poverty now have somewhere to give their bags of money. We need great Americans like George Soros running the joint. I think we have to remove all his appointed judges immediately as they actually believe that the founders meant what they wrote.

NO, running away is for the limp wristed, cowardly left. Besides, Karl Rove requires a public execution. Why? I'll just wait. Someone will devine some reason.

No, JB, I never touch the stuff. I just listen to him speak. For the man who is supposed to be the leader of the free world, he has has a surprisingly low command of basic English. It is most apparent when he's not reading from a prepared statement. Sorry, just making an observation.

So I can't spell, I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I know what direction this country needs to go and it's not any more to the left. I'm pround to be an American, but it's getting to the point that I'm not proud of this countries present politics. We got here by Kicking A**, that's just not within us anymore.

Hey, I voted for the guy both times and his father and Reagon before. I think we made a major tactical blunder here trying to help a country that does not want to be helped. I truly believe that these Arab countries can only survive with a strong dictator in power. Try to name one Arab country that isn't ruled by a dictator and is a democracy.

I supported the war in the beginning...I don't now. And you can be proud to be an American without supporting what we are doing there.

I hate to tell you this, but the word SPEECH is the right way to spell.
A Bush speech could conceivably be spelled as a "speach" like spinach

Hate to tell you this but the original poster edited the title of the thread.

This is how I get sideways with rolmops . . . There is nothing in that written "speach" that isn't true. Nothing. Yet, he apparently denounces it completely  I will say that calling the average American "stupid" is not a good plan, but other than that, what of the content do you deny? Why is it impossible for bright people to review things literally when it is potentially counter to their perception? I here and now request that if I ever do same, that I am called on it.

At least give the credit where it is due.

Now that I have seen through the right's goggles, it all makes sense now. ;)

Lube, you said the following:

"So I can't spell, I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I know what direction this country needs to go and it's not any more to the left. I'm pround to be an American, but it's getting to the point that I'm not proud of this countries present politics. We got here by Kicking A**, that's just not within us anymore."

:):):) You were taking credit for being the author? Very nice!

Re: The speech GW should make!/Look at this pointer.

At the risk of copyright infringement I will use this statement which Lubedude for reasons I cannot fathom claims to be his own.

Normally, I start these things out by saying "My Fellow Americans." Not doing it this time. If the polls are any indication, I don't know who more than half of you are anymore. I do know something terrible has happened, and that you're really not fellow Americans any longer.

Since when does George Bush decide who is an American????

I'll cut right to the chase here: I quit. Now before anyone gets all in lather about me quitting to avoid impeachment, or to avoid prosecution or something, let me assure you: there's been no breaking of laws or impeachable offenses in this office.

Starting a war under false pretense might well be an impeachable offense

The reason I'm quitting is simple. I'm fed up with you people.

The feeling is mutual.

I'm fed up because you have no understanding of what's re ally going on in the world. Or of what's going on in this once-great nation of ours. And the majority of you are too dang lazy to do your homework and figure it out.

This is downright arrogant and untrue

Let's start local. You've been sold a bill of goods by politicians and the news media. Polls show that the majority of you think the economy is in the tank. And that's despite record numbers of homeowners, including record numbers of MINORITY homeowners. And while we're mentioning minorities, I'll point out that minority business ownership is at an all-time high. Our unemployment rate is as low as it ever was during the Clinton Administration. I've mentioned all those things before, but it doesn't seem to have sunk in.

DO you remember that we had a big surplus during the Clinton years and that we were paying our national debt down well ahead of schedule???

Despite the shock to our economy of 9/11, the stock market has rebounded to record levels and more Americans than ever are participating in these markets. Meanwhile, all you can do is whine about gas prices, and most of you are too damn stupid to realize that gas prices are high because there's increased demand in other parts of the world, and because a small handful of noisy idiots are more worried about polar bears and beachfront property than your economic security.

A war always is good for the economy, because so many things that get destroyed need to be rebuilt, but it is not a good reason to start a war.
About the gas prices. At the beginning of this war,Rumsfeld promised America gas for under a dollar a gallon. What happening with the promises of your cabinet members mr.President???

We face real threats in the world. Don't give me this ?blood for oil" thing. If I was trading blood for oil I would've already seized Iraq 's oil fields and let the rest of the country go to hell. And don't give me this 'Bush Lied People Died' crap either. If I was the liar you morons take me for, I could've easily had chemical weapons planted in Iraq so they could be 'discovered.' Let me also remind you that regime change in Iraq was official US policy before I came into office. Some guy named ' Clinton ' established that policy. Bet you didn't know that, did you?

I never claimed you were smart mr. President.

You idiots need to understand that we face a unique enemy. Back during the cold war, there were two major competing political and economic models squaring off. We won that war, but we did so because fundamentally, the Communists wanted to survive, just as we do. We were simply able to outspend and out-tech them.

You idiot never did your home work about the American involvement in Lebanon and the disaster that was,nor did you go and talk to Israel which is so far the most successful country in countering arab terrorism and which hands down has the most experience in occupying arab lands and people

That's not the case this time. The soldiers of our new enemy don't care if they survive. In fact, they want to die. That'd be fine, as long as they weren't also committed to taking as many of you with them as they can. But they are. They want to kill you. And the bastards are all over the globe.

The Israelis could have told you that before you went in

You should be grateful that they haven't gotten any more of us here in the United States since September 11. But you're not. That's because you've got no idea how hard a small number of intelligence, military, law enforcement and homeland security people have worked to make sure of that. When this whole mess started, I warned you that this would be a long and difficult fight. I'm disappointed how many of you people think a long and difficult fight amounts to a single season of 'Survivor'.

You have a point there.

Instead, you've grown impatient. You're incapable of seeing things through the long lens of history, the way our enemies do. You think that wars should last a few months, a few years, tops.

You should know which wars to fight and how to fight them before you start.

Making matters worse, you actively support those who help the enemy. Every time you buy the New York Times, every time you send a donation to a cut-and-run Democrat's political campaign, well, dammit, you might just as well Fedex a grenade launcher to a Jihadist. It amounts to the same thing.

That, mister Bush, is an insult to the majority of the American people.
America is not your private property and there is freedom of expression which your insults will not interfere with.

In this day and age, it's easy enough to find the truth. It's all over the Internet. It just isn't on the pages of the New York Times or on NBC News. But even if it were, I doubt you'd be any smarter. Most of you would rather watch American Idol.

Probably true.

After you are through with nominating all your friends in positions that they do not have the mental capabilities to properly manage (they are your friends after all) government will not be able to do much.

May you live in peace and be healthy

Oh, and by the way, Cheney's quitting too. That means Pelosi is your new President. You asked for it. Watch what she does carefully, because I still have a glimmer of hope that there're just enough of you remaining who are smart enough to turn this thing around in 2008.

Nancy would not be much, but she would be an improvement.

So that's it. God bless what's left of America. Some of you know what I mean.

Re: The speech GW should make!/Look at this pointer.

Well, it is entertaining, particularly to angry conservatives. . . and this not particularly angry libertarian, too.

The notion that my President is stupid is pure mythology. He certainly isn't the silver tongued communicator that Reagan was. . . or even Clinton (probably the most intelligent and least wise President we ever had). So what? He was the only Governor of Texas reelected since reconstruction. You gotta be good to do that.

I don't think he would make that speech. Here's why.

1. He believes that the opposition is made up of sincere and patriotic Americans. They are merely wrong, not stupid. Calling sincere patriots stupid is a left wing tactic anyway.

2. He doesn't think about quitting. He will continue to do what he believes is right, what I elected him (twice) to do. He will not quit or change his mind about what is right just to please the unpleasable.

Re: The speach GW should make!

Great response. I'm ready to vote communist/democrat now. Great fact filled response. Yep ol' Bill dropped his cigar long enough to decrease the debt. (Koolaid anyone). What was the "trailer park troller" doing in 98' when he petitioned congress to attack Iraq? What was his reasoning? Got to hurry and get those records down Sandy Burglers pants.... And get those history books rewritten immediately.

It is funny that this "stupid" man was able to debate the greatest debater in the world "Al Gore" and super genious and War Hero Kerry to a draw or even beat them? How smart are these communist/democrats?

War is good for the economy? What things got broken? Any airplanes? 5-6 helicopters, and a couple dozen jeeps? Please help us understand what exactly has been destroyed and needs to be replaced that would spur the American economy to the same effect that a near shutdown of our air transportation and the stock market as a result of 9-11. Really, share with all of us what those domestically produced replacement products are you are referring to.

Please point to us the military genious in telling the enemy when you are planning to RETREAT? Tell us again how sending a bill with 20 billion in pork, with a surrender clause, a minimum wage increase, and holding it for almost a week when the military coffers are empty supports the troops? Wait, let me clarify, OUR TROOPS?

You don't have to like President Bush, there are plenty of reasons to dislike his policies. But blatent support of the enemy, using of the troops for political gain, berating the troops as Nazi's and Terrorists, screwing with foreign policy and undermining our country while on foreign soil, (of a terrorists nation) just doesn't seem like an intellegent response. But some would allow their hatred for a man to become an excuse for treason.

Cut the luber some slack...I don't think there was any intentional grabbing of credit on the "speech", more like confusion over the title.

In any case, nobody here is paid the big bucks to write this stuff--not like Joe Biden, and even he lifted an entire speech from Neil Kinnock.
