Cut the luber some slack...I don't think there was any intentional grabbing of credit on the "speech", more like confusion over the title.

In any case, nobody here is paid the big bucks to write this stuff--not like Joe Biden, and even he lifted an entire speech from Neil Kinnock.

What? There was no confusion over the title. There was no confusion regarding whom the credit was going to either....at least for a while.


As far as cutting slack, that sounds like "do as I say, not as I do." Lube stuck his neck out and was critical of about 50% of America. He chose to be critical using someone elses words as his own. Now you say, don't be critical of Lube.
Sorry, I did not start the "critical" nature of this thread, I will continue in the same vain in which it was written.

All I can say was that I recognized a c&p job right from the start, and expected that others would too.

Look, I was flamed a couple of years ago by the very poster that I gave a break to this time. It's one of the things that I find wrong with boards--people would never comment in person the way they do on the internet.

As far as the content of the post, have at it, it is a free country, and I enjoy reading well reasoned discourse from all sides.

I agree and I recognized it immediately as well. I did not even intend on posting regarding the author at all. I changed my mind when Lube acknowledged he made spelling errors in the writing. I thought that was a bit too much. At that point, I felt it was as free a game as the content.

Hey, I voted for the guy both times and his father and Reagon before. I think we made a major tactical blunder here trying to help a country that does not want to be helped. I truly believe that these Arab countries can only survive with a strong dictator in power. Try to name one Arab country that isn't ruled by a dictator and is a democracy.

I supported the war in the beginning...I don't now. And you can be proud to be an American without supporting what we are doing there.

That was kinda cherry picking and changing the subject although I do understand a few of your points. An example is the fact that "war is always good for the economy". It is a nice addition, but it does not change the fact that the economy is good . . . Side note: please use something to identify what are your comments vs. the original text like a font or color or no italics etc. Just easier that way and I am too lazy to figure it out myself.

I just reread the whole thing and I agree with all of the general points other than the Americans are stupid stuff. A great many Americans are guided by feelings instead of facts. Some may call that stupid, I don't. Misguided and misinformed, maybe, stupid, no. I believe that a good many Americans went back to their lives on 9/12, some waited until 10/12, but the awesome feeling of security we have here in the US has put some of us to sleep. Yes we were snapped out of it a little then, but I believe that they (really bad people who do really bad stuff) are planning to hit us harder, would jump at the chance to get a nuke, would use it in a heartbeat, and smile as they did it. That right there is some scary, scary stuff and I am happy that my CIC gets it. This is why I support him and would actually even vote for him again.

Edit: I thought Lube's spelling comment was about "speach" in the title . . .

JB, you've got me all wrong. I do not hate Bush in the least bit. I was simply making a comment on his command of the English language (or lack thereof) based on my own observations over the last 6 years or so. I do not feel it was thoughtless - or off topic, for that matter.

...you do get to change your mind. When you realize that you made a mistake, that the country that you are trying to help doesn't want your help...That there is little chance that this country will ever be able to survive without splitting it up into 3 countries...I can go on!
