Went to my marina today to get the snow off my boat from yesterdays blizzard.
This Bayliner is tied up on my pier.
I can't understand why people treat their boat like this.
Not only was it full of snow, but the outdrive was completely frozen in the ice.

the upper snow will melt first, before the bilge pump thaws, 99% the engine will get water into the intake. then they will wonder why they blew their engine.

Someone, somewhere, someday, will blame that boat's condition on Bayliners being crap :p

I think people just don't appreciate the gifts they have. It's unfortunate that someone can treat something of value like that, yet a family in Haiti right now can barely find shelter. Just doesn't calculate to me. Not only stupid, but irresponsible and ignorant. We Americans sometimes reap the stigma we sow.

My Vision may be narrow sighted , But after all the time and effort I put into fixing my old boat I'd never leave it like that !! Maybe the owner will take better care of that boat after fixing his errors . A total shame . peter

You just know this guy will jump in the boat this spring and hit the key and wonder why it won't start.

I wish I had so much money I could neglect my stuf like that.

indeed a not so smart thing to do.... but maybe something happened to the guy... or he died and is ex wife doesnt care about the boat that in his name.....

Or he won the lottery and has 100 mil... and can afford to do whatever he wants.

If I saw something like this in MY marina tied to MY pier, I would FIRST try to find out what happened to the owner, and perhaps offer him a help. And if he is alive and well, THEN I would start cussing him.

Yup. For all we know, the owner was hit by a truck and is in the hospital in a coma... or dead. Lack of actual knowledge of his situation means that any cussing is definitely premature. Then again, some folks just like to bash others.

While I agree that winter storage in the water is a bit extreme, I can think of at least a half dozen boats sitting just like that on trailers in driveways right in my neighborhood.

You know, boats are meant to get wet, not like the front seat of your car. So, snow is just another form of water. You really don't need to cover it up. It;'ll be just fine.

I'm hoping that comment was made tongue in cheek. If it wasn't, JimS, suggest you do some reading around here, 'cuz what you wrote is just plain wrong. The neighbors who store them uncovered will eventually pay a high price for it.
