I'm leaving to go out of town in just a couple of hours. I was running around taking care of some last minute business and I just returned home to find a package on my doorstep... A package I mailed out 4 days ago.

On the label it stated: Return to sender, insufficient postage. I took this freakin' package to the United States Post Office, gave it to the guy at the counter who then weighed it, charged me for the postage based on the weight, then put on the USPS postage label.

To me this is like going to the store and buying a jug of milk, then later a store clerk comes by and takes back the milk because they didn't feel I paid enough!!!

What the He!l??? If I had the time, I would go right now back to the Post Office and shove this 18" X 18" box up the guys @$$!!!

How stupid!!!!!!!!

HMMMMMMM.....
1. They probably couldn't afford the gas to deliver it!......:) ....or....
2. They decided that they were not making enough profit off of it, so they sent it back to you.....
HMMMMM......Sounds kind of like another monopoly that......Oh, never mind.....:D

Kinda tough to tack a "fuel surcharge" onto a stamp - this must be their way of getting around that! :p

Didn't all postage rates just go up along with the 1st class stamp? Could be that the guy charged you an obsolete rate. However, that would have been his error, not yours.

They should have sent it through.

BAD USPS, Bad, bad, bad. :(

It was a package; the guy weighed it and printed out the postage..

Yes, not my error; now I have to take it BACK to the PO, burning my fuel to do so. I'm going to try to go on my way to the airport.

Which exists because there is a need for it........
Otherwise, the others, Fed Ex. et al.....would be able to manipulate the market, just like the U.S. Amalgamated Oil Trust does......;)
I think the Government should have its own refineries & gas stations to keep the 'Trust" honest......;)

Yeah, when Ben Franklin created it . . .

Has it ever crossed your mind that UPS could deliver all of the mail cheaper and more efficiently than a Gov. entity? (Begging even harder that Z doesn't see this . . .)

Maybe they could.....
But, I doubt it would be cheaper if the USPS did not exist......;)

Re: This really takes the cake!

I have packages shipped from my house almost everyday and 5-6 times the mailman has been to lazy to pick them up and put them in his truck....I have spent hours on the phone with his supervisiors and evry time they appologise and say it wont happen again. Today had the new mailman tell me it was a UPS pick up......I freakin had to point out the only printed label was from.....you guessed it.....USPS and without saying a word he picked up the box and walked away like Im a jerk for useing their service. Lots of bad service by the USPS for sure.....But they will not give me discount or refund any of my money cuz they got me over the barrel and they know it. UPS rates would sink me, Fed Ex just as bad.
