My '62 Fabuglas has the threaded type plug that screws into the bottom center drain hole of transom to keep water from entering bilge area and I assume to remove and let the bilge area drain/dry after a day on the lake. My question is where can I find a replacement plug or similar alternative for this problem. The original was not in the boat when I got it so I checked drain hole and it appears to be coarse thread , 3/4" id drain hole. Any ideas as to where I can get a replacement??? Thanks , RR

Re: Threaded Bilge Plug ?

Anyplace that sells plumbing stuff will have a 3/4 screw in pipe plug. But a regular rubber cam over, or 'stick in and tighten' plug you see at the bait shop will work fine too.

My 1968 Aluminum 21'er has the screw in type drain plug*****. When I got it in '93, it had the normal everyday $2.00 rubber plug. That's all I ever had in it since then because the threads are full of old paint and dirt so much I can't get a screw in one to start. I've got a butter bowl full of screw in brass plugs, but never cleaned the threads enough to use one.

****
And the housing (I guess you'd call it) was heli-arced into the lower rear end of the boat at the factory. Changing it to the 'slick' tube kind would take major surgery.
******

After being on the lake for a few days with a common rubber drain plug- the bildge has always been dry and dusty.
