Threaded Bilge Plug ?

My '62 Fabuglas has the threaded type plug that screws into the bottom center drain hole of transom to keep water from entering bilge area and I assume to remove and let the bilge area drain/dry after a day on the lake. My question is where can I find a replacement plug or similar alternative for this problem. The original was not in the boat when I got it so I checked drain hole and it appears to be coarse thread , 3/4" id drain hole. Any ideas as to where I can get a replacement??? Thanks , RR

Anyplace that sells plumbing stuff will have a 3/4 screw in pipe plug. But a regular rubber cam over, or 'stick in and tighten' plug you see at the bait shop will work fine too.<br /><br />My 1968 Aluminum 21'er has the screw in type drain plug*****. When I got it in '93, it had the normal everyday $2.00 rubber plug. That's all I ever had in it since then because the threads are full of old paint and dirt so much I can't get a screw in one to start. I've got a butter bowl full of screw in brass plugs, but never cleaned the threads enough to use one. <br /><br />****<br />And the housing (I guess you'd call it) was heli-arced into the lower rear end of the boat at the factory. Changing it to the 'slick' tube kind would take major surgery.<br />******<br /><br />After being on the lake for a few days with a common rubber drain plug- the bildge has always been dry and dusty.

it appears to be coarse thread , 3/4" id drain hole.

What you're looking for is,<br />A 1/2" Brass Pipe Plug...............<br /><br />Any Hardware store will have them.........

if you are in salt water defenitly use a brass plug

have seen the plug made in 5/8 in. they are difficult to find around here.
