Hello again,I am almost now ready for the big launch and have been finalising and fitting all my assemblies that were done over winter, But on checking control box and cables again after running engine in tub (runs idles perfectly)throttle cable does not give enough travel to allow wide open throttle! at full travel on box ie handle full forward there is about 1.1/4inch movement required on carb cam to full throttle, My engine is Evinrude 40hp BE40ELCR 1984 with OMC single lever control box, this set-up had new cables fitted before I purchased, I notice that the inner cable is for shift and outer cable is for throttle, what is easy way to set this up? should I screw cable adjuster to get WOT or will this upset my idle which is perfect, I have Clymer manual which has fried my brain, easy method required please, launch postponed again! thanks all, JBD also did search with no results using Throttle.

Re: Throttle cable.

Remove the cable at the carb. Adjust the trunnion nut so that the cable just slips in into the carb link with the throttle lever in neutral...(Is that an 1 1/4" you need to make up?? That's a bunch. May have to look further into this)Have you looked at the throttle plates to see if they are horizontal at WOT?

Re: Throttle cable.

OK Rick thanks for kind reply, I have taken off air box and I do get WOT at full forward lever, the rubber roller on throttle lever is right on tip of carb cam and throttle goes back to correct off position on cam?I have not really moved lever for some time just using warm up lever when running in tank and now find the OMC box stiff to move in forward position (OK in reverse) and the feeling quite vague, what can I expect in opening up box? would some grease help, have applied WD40 which doesn't really help? thanks again JBD
