Okay, here's the deal.
I went boating and the last couple times when I went WOT, the boat would not get on plane. I have a 16' fibreglass boat.
So, as I was trying to figure out why, while my buddy was driving the boat at WOT, I took the cowling off and inspected the motor to see if I could figure it out.
I noticed that the throttle was not all the way open. When I went and pushed the throttle to see if it would go faster, it did. It went faster and we went on plane, but eventually the motor slowed down. Seems as if something is not correctly adjusted.
I've looked in my manual and cannot figure out how to adjust the throttle so it is working properly.
My question is: how do I adjust the throttle so when I try to go full throttle, it actually does. The piece of metal that pushes the throttle linkage does not push the throttle all the way down.
I'm sure this is a quick fix, but I can't seem to figure it out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks B.C.

If I recall ,the piece of metal(a little round rod ,should have a piece of plastic on it,might have broken off and fell into the cowling(wont hurt anything)You might have some luck with a piece of fuel hose 5/16 inside diameter ,I think, cut a piece the length of the rod and slide it on .I'll look ay my book tomorrow if you dont get a different answer tonite

I went and looked at my motor, since it is not at my house right now.
It does that have that white plastic ring on it..
I'm still not sure how to fix the throttle though.
Any other tips would be greatly appreciated. The manual is not really saying much about it.
I'll post pictures later on tonight when I get home from work.
Thanks,
B.C.

Did you check the throttle cable and make sure nothing came loose with that. Maybe it cam loose somewhere and therefore it is only moving half of what it should be or something. Otherwise maybe it stretched out or something.(not as likely but still possible)

I've checked the throttle cable...the only part I have not checked is inside the throttle box, near the steering.
I'm going over to the boat tonight and will be checking that. Everything seems normal though.
I'll take a few more pictures of it and post them...it has to be a quick fix...it's never done this before. I was thinking it could have vibrated loose, but can't see where?
