Re: Thru hull transduser
The through hull transducer would be attached inside the bottom of the hull using the recommended epoxy.
We seem to have some confusion with nomenclature. Assuming Airmar (the leader in transducer manufacture) has it right, the correct names for each type of transducer are:
Through Hull transducers are installed by cutting a hole in the hull and inserting the transducer in the hole. These can be a one time install, although more sophisticated units are multi-piece where there is a collar that is mounted permanently to the hull and the transducer is then mounted in the collar. This allows the transducer to be removed.
In hull transducers are glued to the inside surface of the hull. This may, or may not be an epoxy.
Transom mount transducers are installed on the exterior of the transom.
The type of transducer you use is a function of boat and engine construction, and the job at hand. For example, in hull transducers can have problems if you try to use them on a cored hull.
Also keep in mind that you have to buy a transducer that matches the deadrise of the hull where you want to install it (so it will shoot straight down).
