I have a 87 johnson 20hp/tiller that I'm trying to do the lynch&synch procedure on.I have the Clymer manual and just got the Johnson manual.I adjusted the cam follower pickup point so that the butterfly just starts to open when the cam follower is between the 2 marks on the cam.The next step is the throttle control rod adjustment. It says to advance the throttle lever until it contacts its stop on the engine block. My lever doesn't hit the stop. The cam does contact the rubber stop(where you adjust the WOT timing)and that stops the lever from advancing any further. Is this right?Should I just adjust the control rod to allow the butterfly to open up to the level position?
