Re: Tilt n Trim Corrosion advice.
Repair Anode plate???lol...that would be funny.
Cylinders are not damaged...Base of unit(frame) has corrosion..no leaks...just want advice on cleaning, refilling and painting.Maybe a photo will help.
I use either of the two following. Alodine is alodine. goes buy a lot of different trade names but it always fits the generic description of "aluminum conversion coating for treatment of bare metal prior to painting". My preference is usually the self-etching zinc since it works on both steel and aluminum. I dip the steel in phosphoric acid then treat with conversion coat similar to ospho. Alodine might damage the steel protection layer so I only alodine on pure aluminum. My self-etch of choice is pettit underwater for metal. forget the part number but it should be easy to find. weird paint that thins out with denatured alcohol but has great waterproof properties after drying.
sandblast, alodine, prime, paint.
or -
sandblast, green self-etch (aka wash coat primer with zinc), paint
for filler use marinetex epoxy or something like that. polyester body filler won't hold up underwater.
