Thanks... Yes, it worked before I took the trim/tilt system off of the transom to work on it. The lever is part of the sending unit that controls the trim gauge in the dash. As the motor trims down it pushes the lever down and the potentiometer in the sending unit sends the signal to the gauge to move the needle on the gauge down.
There appears to be only one way that the sending unit can be bolted to the transom bracket that holds the engine. There is a place cast into the bracket that holds the sending unit which is simply bolted on with two bolts. It can be tilted slightly up/down by loosening the top bolt, allowing you to adjust the gauge to match the actual trim position of the engine.
Once again, the issue I'm having is that the lever will not clear the electric motor on the tilt/trim unit where as before I took the system off, it did. Obviously I have to be missing something straight forward, which is why I'm hoping someone has a picture of one that is properly installed.
