Hi all, I have a 98' 70hp Suzuki. A few weeks ago it started to make a bunch of clattering noise. I brought it in to the dealer to have him adjust the valves (thought that was the problem), which he did. They were all a little loose by the way. The clatter did not go away however, it seems to be coming from some thing to do with the timing belt. If I take the fly wheel and turn it a little bit the timing belt pulley attached to the crank stays still for about 8 or 10 degrees before it moves. The dealer is pulling off the fly wheel tommorow and check it out. Any one had any similiar problems? Any prolems with the tensioner?

Sounds like something broke in there, mainaa.

One thing to watch out for: The early DF70s had problems with broken cam noses and broken oil pump drives due to over tensioning the belt. It wasn't an engine problem, it was wrenches who didn't read the manual and over tightened the tensioner. Your problem may have a similar cause.

Make sure that they tension it EXACTLY by the book after they have fixed whatever broke.

Good luck. :)

I don't have my Manual anymore, Mainaa.

Make sure the shop has one and uses it.
