Re: Tin addiction 18' Starcraft Chieftain
I revise my comment, they may be a tad corroded to be of much value....
Looks like salt damage too.....
Yeah Puget Sound ate them alive, I had to dig that one out of the scrap bin.
Had a nice warm sunny day today so I got the cabin out for some tear down. Removed all of the trim and the side windows. If anyone reading in the future wants to know how to get the sliding side windows apart I guess I can go into detail about how fun it is. Drill out rivets, pry clam shell frame apart, there are friction springs every 4 inches holding it together.
Everything was completely full of dirt, crud and some ugly white corrosion. Not sure how anyone doing a resto on a cabin SC could leave all that trim on the cabin and not remove it for clean up. It would have leaked dirt forever on all the nice fresh paint as soon as water was added.
Got all the 70's Landau top material off and it's crystallized glue cleaned up too. Have paint to strip tomorrow and maybe get started on filling holes in the top of the cabin.
Resto buddy came over and had a turn at the wire wheel and when tore all down we a couple frosty ones to celebrate.
I wonder who they paid to cut out the openings for the side windows? I know what they thought, who cares what it looks like, it's going to be covered up with trim.
