Firestone Destination AT's.
My son bought a set... loves them to death.
I've read nothing but good reviews on the internet. Thinking about a set for my Escape as I am in need.

Anybody have any experience with them?

Re: Tire question

We have a set on the shop's part runner Aerostar van (RWD). They have been great tires for a year and a half now. They run nice on the road, are not noisy, wear well, and go through snow and mud/dirt/gravel/sand a lot better than the old highway radials. I'm considering a set of them for my Jeep I like them so much. They look cool too :D They would look pretty gnarly on an escape!

Glad to see Firestone is making something good.I havent trusted them in years. From years ago their 721 radials falling apart and the Bridgestone/Ford disaster.

Re: Tire question

I dont want to start the Firestone/Brigestone stuff.........but IMHO that was a Ford issue more than a tire issue.....Those tires were on lots of other cars......enough said.

KaGee I think you will be happy with your choice. I had a set of Dueller HT's that were GREAT. I would get them again in a heartbeat. I was strapped for cash and need to replace them. I ended up with Dayton Timerline AT's that I like a lot as well (they also are made by Firestone). I think they make some quality tires. Like you when I was researching new tires I found nothing bad about the Destination AT's anywhere. The ones I have were $90 a piece so I could pass them up. Otherwise I would have either Destinations or Duellers...

Heres what I am running now for comparison.
Re: Tire question

One study I read on the whole Bridgstone Ford explorer thing all but proved that it was neither tires or Ford. It was because that was the start of the SUV craze. People expecially city dwellers had no clue how to drive an SUV. They drove and turned corners like they did their sports cars that were just going out of fashion.
Tests I saw on one video showed the tires up close on high speed turns. They held together. The test on video then devised a mechanical way to let out air pressure as the test continued. They took higher speed turns with tires at all levels of inflation with no rollover.

Anyway to the point...excelent tires. Firestone in my oipinion had a bad problem a few years ago, in my experience with weather cracking. But these have been great tires. Good ride, quiet running, wear good.

Bought the Destination AT's. Boy what a ride!
Never realized how bad a ride the old tires were.

Re: Tire question

I know you asked about the firestones but I have been very happy with the Cooper tires I have used over the years. Quality, looks, cost and a American company is why I buy them. Give them a look.

Re: Tire question

A little late reading this post but, I got em on my 4X4, I've got about 15,000 miles on em and very little wear so far. My truck gets used every day on woods (dirt) roads and gravel roads and I'm very happy with them. I'll definately buy another set whenever these get wore out!
