If the boat has a V8 engine that engine alone is 550# naked. Add a couple hundred pounds for the outdrive and you are at 750 - 800#. Add batteries, some manifolds and associated plumbing you are at or over 1000# without the weight of the boat itself, fuel, and any gear you are carrying. That boat does not weigh 1750# wet & ready for the water. An aluminum 16 - 17 foot side console walleye boat has a dry weight between 900 and 1000# without an engine fuel or gear.

This boat have an outboard Mariner 115 Hp. I went to the beach yesterday and the trailer was fine during the trip to the ramp. Actually its feels very smooth for the drive than before. Maybe you are right and the boat goes over 1,750 pounds but Im sure that this axle will handle the weight from now on. :D

You can buy a nice 3500 to 6000 lbs axle with 2x3 tubing made to fit with the bearings and hubs already installed for under 150 bucks. .

Not in P.R. Those ones goes over 250.00 and just 2 x 2. If you buy materials and spindles alone will save big bucks$$$

Great job, and thanks for the pics. I'm sure you're not the last person that will ever have that problem.

Well I bought new spindles 1/38 inner 1 1/16 other, schedule 40 galv round tube and hub galv kit. Let see what happen. I hope this new setup resolve this situation.

I believe that spindles on trailer right now (1 1/16 inner and outer) obviously in no way handle the weight. those ones can go for up to 1250 pounds. The new ones goes up to 1750 pounds each...

Any mistake cost a few bucks.... learning the hard way;)

Even though I know you fixed this issue, I would like to correct you on something.

With the hubs/bearings rated at 1250#. That means each will support that weight. But you have 2, 1 on each side of the axle. So really, the hubs/bearings will can support up to 2500#.

But as you found out, the axle was the weakest link. Good bye!

Those size bearings would be consistent with a 3500 load capacity axle...
I went through a similar thing some years back with my first boat...it's an '88 Four Winns 200 that came on a trailer too small with a 2200 lb capacity as I later found out...I had a 3500 axle (1/4 in wall, same bearings as above) made and added brakes...put on 215/75-14 tires) in retrospect I SHOULD have sold the trailer and bought a correct size one...
But over the years I made this one work...added heavier gauge and longer roller bars with more rollers and a longer tongue...
I SHOULD have done a 5200 or 6000 lb axle with 15" rjms and 12" brakes and might still do that but I have not had any failures with the current set up...
Problem is there is no good place nearby to weight a boat here...FW says the boat weighs 2650 but it's gotta be more than that...and when I looked at their specs (after I did all this work some years back D'oh) they spec'd a 4200 capacity trailer for this boat...so yes I should up grade to the 5200/6000 axle with 15" D rated tires....fortunately my boat is moored so the trailer moves all of 1-2 miles per year....
