as im a glutton for punishment ive found myself in another project, putting the 4.3 engine from my old boat into my new boat (both are from 1997, old boat had an engine put in around 2006 with tks), and using the new boats computer/ wiring, old boat was tks and new boat has regular electric choke. the carb on the new boat is a paper weight, is using the tks carb as simple as just splicing the wires for the old electric choke onto it or is there some computer controlling for it that i will be missing??

edit: reason for using the new boats harness/ controller is because the ecu for my old boat is bad, but if getting the tks carb to work on this other boat is only playing with the wiring and doesnt involve the use of the old ecu than i can handle that with no issues.

No, the wiring is different, exactly what does this mean? and using the new boats computer.
Manual 41 is TKS, the system uses a oil pressure switch and a temp switch .

ive been dealing with this tks thunderbolt V engine for a while getting its issues straightened out, the ecu/ control module is bad. i havent had a chance to do anything with this new boat yet, actually yanking the motor later this week, but i was assuming it had some sort of ecu/ control module like my last one. judging by you questioning it though, im going to go ahead and assume it does not

I`m working on a replacement module for the riser mounted one, called a ignition amplifier. The term ECM or ECU is mainly used on fuel injected motors

sorry, im an auto tech so i throw the term ecu around alot. the thunderbolt v one i have is an odd run, no knock sensors which seems to be a 1997 only thing from my research.

just went out to my shed where the motor i plan on using is and cut open the harness to see where all the tks wires go. looks like il probably be able to add it into the other boats wiring. still have a couple to trace but the 6 or so wires i did trace all look easy enough to move over. and obviously all its sensors and such are already there

For a better visual of what would be included to make the TKS system work, Search online ( Mercruiser 4.3 TKS kit CARBURETOR RETRO KIT, (TKS) Part # MRC-865960A02 ) < You'll find a bunch of part catalog diagrams of all the components.

Then to help understand the TKS working systems better, you could study service manual number 41 or for a long winded general description of the system there's a few copy and pastes within some of the posts of the following link, http://forums.iboats.com/forum/engin...9#post10045799
