Re: To Build a Boat (any boat)

OK, well my plan is to build the boat in the basement......because when I start building its gonna be cold, and I'm thinking someone may want to park their car in the garage for winter.

There are no turns in the stairs, and the back door and the basement door line up perfectly... I can and have thrown a football from the basement and got it to land in the middle of the yard. So I think that will be the plan......of corse I will carry it to the garage to glass it.

http://www.geocities.com/thechryslercrew/

Hey dink....pretty sure that your "new" chrystler is a 1980 model. The previos sailor 250's had blue on the cowl. The modles after yours were orange and black. Claims to have the thrust of a 20hp ;)

Re: To Build a Boat (any boat)

Yeah, that was the ebay boat. I made an oath to myself to spend more that 100. The final bid was 260$ I think. Oh well. It will be more fun to build myself a little jon boat anyways. I'll pick up dinks motor as soon as he gives me his minimax....jk.

I'm considering getting a camo B&S for the jon boat once i finish it.....err start it for that matter

tracker notice how all you folks only have 3 icons up by the quote and edit post. mine has 4. the second icon is a link to that chatroom. :) I paid the shipping on that motor today... and also won an auction for a messed up 7.5 that says the housing next to the prop is messed up... looks like i'll be begging and paypalling eric to find me some parts :D

Made more progress .. got 2 more done today... WooHoo.. three down 4 to go ... I keep looking at the plans and it looks like the next 3 are really easy... then the transom....

Might need some more wood... hopin to get the 6 frames done.. and then have to fork over some more green for the transom.. If this happens I'll be happy...lol :D

Still no pics... must find another way!!!

for those that don't know...

Sea Babe

Re: To Build a Boat (any boat)

Yeah the camo one is more expensive. I do have a bunch of connections over there. My dad, uncle, and neighbor all have worked there for almost 30yrs if not more. I am hoping I can get a camo one cheap.....if I cant I will just keep the generic black. It's just that camo is pretty sweet looking.

Re: To Build a Boat (any boat)

the camo is sweet.I just cant beleive the price diff. for only the cowling/cover whatever you want to call it to be camo. you know I thought about putting a briggs motor on an old lower unit at one time.it couldnt be all that hard.

dave,so thats the boat your building? looks like a complicated SOB.cant wait to see it built. you know if you were to build some templates...... :D

Re: To Build a Boat (any boat)

LMAO... ya ya ya templates.... the only thing that came close is the ply gussets... and I used a piece of paper creased to the outside edges... I would call it a paper pattern... you can call it whatever you want...lol

It so far has not been real bad.. WE'll find out a bit farther in the building stage
