Next time you spot 4 adults and 5 kids riding around on an open bow and you try to egg him on when only going about 35, make sure you have more then 4 mph in reserve!

that must have been embarrasing :D

I had a jetski (2-up) that tried to beat me up the river on Sunday... He had about 40mph in it and was probably a little embarassed when I waved at him and pulled away like he was standing still with my little 4 cyl. His girl wasn't very impressed, but mine was!

Funny, my wife is the one who spotted him first and ask me in a cocky way "can ya get him" she knows we flirt with 60's just the two of us.

Once the wife was in, it was game on!

I got into it a little bit with a chaparral this weekend, we were doing about 55 when a twin engine skater cat came flying by and humbled us both, I mean like we were standing still humbled, my wife was still laughing about it at dinner tonight.....

If you're only going 35 how would you know if the guy was trying to race? Hell, I water ski at 37!!

Oh yeah it was a very short conversation, I simply ate dinner and let her have her fun, anything I would have said would simply bruise my ego further so no sense in that at all:D

Man, she called me out on Monday! We had another couple aboard and it was their first time on my boat so I was taking it easy until Susan says in front of everyone "Why are you driving like an old lady?".... Game ON!

Re: To the guy in the Avalon....

Musta been that kind of weekend. We were out Saturday night, water was dead calm. A Baha, guessing around 23 - 25' comes flying by, maybe a couple hundred ft away, makes a big circle, comes back by again and slows to an idle. We were just putting along, and my wife says "I think he wants to race" - to which my normal reply came - "I think he wants to lose". He actually nailed it first while I was making sure my wife got back to her seat. We headed into the bay, about 8 miles, by the end of it he was almost out of site behind me. I pulled the boat into the lift, and had it up in the air, standing on the dock. The guy comes by, kills it, and asks me what the heck I have in that motor. I smiled, told him it was just a V6. We sat there and talked shop for a few more minutes before he took off again for the mouth. Fun times.

I'll never forget the Bass Boat with a Merc 250 on it that came sliding up next to me and smiled then hammered it. My old 17ft 4 Winns (thru-hulls and a 260HP 5.7) jumped out of the water and passed him like he was sitting still. As I was tying off at the dock he pulled up and asked "What have you got in that thing" My current Larson 226 has a nice holeshot and tops out at 54 plus or minus GPS but does take a little while to get there. Theres a lot of boats that can show me the way home but on our lakes we're upper middle of the pack.

Seems unlikely unless his O/B was running poorly or he had a ton of extra weight in the boat. A 10HP difference won't mean much, but his boat should have been lighter with less draft = higher speed.

Git-er-done, guys!

I almost passed a bicyclist. He was on the pavement, and I was in the river. I did pass Granny in her motorized wheelchair that gave me redemption. I'm looking for a jogger now!
