So how cold does it get down there in "Oz" in July and August (or did y'all have different names for the months of the year)?

My Coho has an upper and a lower helm, so if it was really too hot to stand being outside till we get to our swimming spot or Lake Michigan I'll just fire up the generator, turn on the A/C, and command the vessel from the lower helm

Really depends where you are. Some parts are colder than others. Tasmania, which is the island at the south east of the main continent gets alot cooler than the mainland.

Around where i live it goes down to anywhere between 6-10 during winter. Cooler sometimes, warmer others.

Coldest all day was one where i woke up and my wheelbarrow full of water had frozen over

Re: Too hot for boating?

l know Tassie has a rep for being cold but l'm not quite sure that it is fully deserved,
we're retiring there later this year and l've been watching the weather for the last 5 yrs since we made the decision that that is where we wanna go...
around here...near Seymour for the locals...l've seen it down...and been out in it.. to minus 4 degs C in July/August,
son lived in Hobart for 6 yrs and it never got that cold while he was there....mind you, it didn't get to the 41.8 record temp that it was there last Friday either,
it ain't the NT either though,
going close to Dunalley, for the locals,

" l love a sunburnt country"

Ain't never been too hot for boating for me. Too rainy, too windy(hurricane) yah, but never too hot. That's why the water's there, to cool ya off.

I can't remember the last time the temps on the South Florida coast ever reaching 100F. I guess if it ever does, I will figure it out. Now a 130F engine room I've been in for a couple hours.....not much fun.

You guys enjoy what you have....and always be thankful for a roof over your head.

Key West in August is kinda miserable...even for partying in Key West! Here in North Texas it's 100F+ to 110F everyone uses a bimini or finds shade. 319472_10150999215444438_282020427_n.jpgfloating shade.jpglaboorday12-2.jpg
it is managable.

Until i turned 50 there was no heat limit..between Bimini's bottled water and the body of water itself there was alway's a way to survive. Alas those were the good old day's..100 Degree's for more than 3 hour's and its all over for this old man.

We also do alot of night boating. Memorial Day to Labor Day are Fireworks every Friday night .. Have dinner on the lake, watch the fireworks then go back to resturant hear live music. There always a party somewhere. There is usually a bon fire at the san bar.

It's never to hot to boat. If we need to cool off a bit, we just go down in the cabin and relax in the air conditioning for a little while.
