I want to buy a 2002, 23 ft. Pro Line WA Cuddy. Propulsion wise, I have narrowed it down to either one 225 hp Yamaha four-stroke, or two 130 hp Honda four-strokes. I like the idea of two outboards, cause where I might be going fishing I would just feel better having a second motor.
The max horsepower rating for this boat is 300, so either way I am under this limit. However, the single engine is approx. 600 lbs., and the twin Hondas total about 1000 lbs. As I would prefer the two engine scenario, I am concerned about there being 400 more lbs. on the transom. Is there a max transom weight capacity, and if so how close will I be to it with the twins, and how will that affect handling, loading, cg, etc. If someone can enlighten me, I would appreciate it.
