Transom replacement or design flaw?

I just don't want to end up redoing the transom in the original configuration to have the same problem with transom flex. Can you elaborate on the flat stock you mentioned in your post?
Sorry I'm late, I've been sick since Friday and am just starting to feel alive again. Something like this.


You should be able to find something anywhere that sells welding materials. It will help disperse the load across more area of the transom.

It has been noted that the cap on the transom is cracked.----Makes it weak !-----So find aluminum channel ( about 7' ) to make a new cap at the top 3'.----And also on the bottom with 4' long.----Or make channel from square tube.----Make the plywood 10" deep and full width as it now.----Install with 12 bolts 1/4 20 NC stainless.----Would then take a small atomic bomb to break your transom.
