Hello,
Has anyone cut down a 20" transom to a 15" transom on a 16' sea nymph (or any other) aluminum boat. I have a new Nissan motor (shorty) and the company sent a tall transom boat. Rather than go through the hassle of sending it back...waiting...I am considering cutting out a wedge of the transom (like it appears on the short transom version of the same boat) and replacing the aluminum cap/rail. This is a sea nymph by Lowe. Any advice, suggestions, pitfalls? Thanks, Rich

Pitfalls... you may void any warranties. I assume this is new. Don't take a chance. Perhaps you can call Lowe and they can locate another dealer in the area to swap it with. My suggestion is wait and get what you ordered.

Re: transom

The boat comes in two versions (short and tall transom). My marina guy says it's the same regarding stability/strength. He also says he can have his warrenty guy do the work and that it won't affect the warrenty. Both boats are rated at only 30 HP motors, and I am putting on a 9.8 Nissan. He says not problem, and that they will correct it for 50$. (usual price is 150.). I went ahead and gave him the OK. Thanks for the replys thought, cheers, I may be fishin by the weekend. Rich

Regarding the jack plate, the mechanic said these are only good for a couple to three inches - This has to go to 15 from 20, so I thought the jack plate was not the way to go. Thanks again;
