Re: Trashy people

I'm ignorant. I thought all persons in Long Island lived in brown stones, nuts to butts with no yards.:D

Yeah, I just take all my trash to Long Island where I used to live, and dump it there :D
Actually, I've never seen a brownstone, anywhere on Long Island? They all live in little grass huts :D

Seriously, where I boat on lake Wallenpaupak Pa. There's no trash pails, but sign's telling you to take out, anything you bring in! Amazingly it is one of the cleanest area's up here, but I haven't ventured into the wooded area's. There is also a sign for no pets. A lot of people bring their dogs, I like dogs, but the only thing I don't like there is, most people who bring their dogs, let them run free all over

At the lake I spend my time out, the patrols will give a person littering 2 choices:

1. Pick up his trash plus all the trash within sight of the offense.

2. Get a $500 citation.

Number 1 seems to work the best as it has really cleaned up the shoreline a lot.

You can always tell a bank fisherman that has got busted as they seem to clean the area up first before they fish. Sort of an insurance policy for them not to get busted for someone else's trash.

Re: Trashy people

Our scout troop's favorite outing was a two day float trip in southern Missouri. We would combine it with a service project to pick up cans from the river.

On our last trip, we managed to gather enough cans to fill the back third of a full sized school bus. Funny things was, that none of our scouts ever managed to find unopened cans.:D Ya right.

We even managed to salvage two swamped canoes and half of another.

Before, we did have some minor issues of a couple of them thinking "How can my one little piece of trash do any harm." They learned real quick that when hundreds have the same attitude, it does add up.

Re: Trashy people

What surprises me is when people use the back of MY pickup for a garbage can. I've found beer and soda bottles and cans, cigarette butts, and assorted other crap I never put there.:mad: But what burns my azz like a three foot flame is to see someone dump a full ashtray at a stop light................WTF is wrong with those people.:confused:

I was at a gas "service" station so many years ago I don't remember the year. Suffice it to say that they still had the "driveway bell" that dinged when you ran over it. Then 1 guy filled your tank, another checked your oil and a 3rd checked your tire pressure. I'm just trying to date when this happened.

The people in the back seat in the car ahead of me dumped a full cigarette tray out on the gas station blacktop. A little old grey haired grandmother came out with her broom and dust pan. She cleaned up their mess, opened their rear door, and dumped the contents of the dust pan on their floor. LOL :D The miscreants then drove off a little wiser, I hope.

Poetic justice for the sh-t laden towel you through into the Ohio River from your "Stupid Human Tricks" post?

That was an emergency situation and all "items" were bio-degradable.

No comparison to throwing trash on the ground when a trash can is available.

Hope that towel was prop-degradable. I would hate to have had to unwrap it from my motor.

We went to launch the SIB several weeks ago, and it appeared a young family had just disposed of a weekends worth of feminine sanitary products, and diapers in the water exactly where I had to stand to mount my motor.

Yuk!

The left overs from all (hundreds) the ducks, geese, and swans that hang out there is bad enough, but this was a little more than I wanted to deal with.

Funny how my usual help seemed to all dissipate into thin air, at the sight of all the little floating islands of modern living.

Everyone, all of a sudden, had to get something out of the car.

Hate trashy people, and to this day do not understand why so many people that smoke do not see their cig butts as litering. Years ago when I worked at the marina was to pick the cig butts out of the gravel pathways. AARRGGGH!
