Trim gauge showing wrong indication

Hi,<br /><br />When my outboard's ventilation plate is level with the bottom of my hull, neutral position, the trim gauge shows "nose DOWN" :confused: . How do i adjust it so it reads correctly?<br /><br />Outboard is 1993 V4 140HP Evinrude.<br /><br />thanx in advance :D <br /><br />AK

It's hard for me to describe without standing looking at my motor but there is a "trim sender" (on the motor at the back - you have to be standing behind the motor to see it - near the clamping/bolting bracket) which is what sends the signal to the gauge, it is adjustable. It's a little thing with an arm that swivels according to how the motor moves when it tilts. If you find it, you'll see a screw that can be loosened to adjust it. You'd simply adjust it so that the gauge is approximately the same as the engine. I know this is vague, but I hope it helps in case you don't get more clear advice.
