Trim Pump - Dirty Connection Issue

Towards the end of last season I had issues with my trim pump, specifically, the wiring between the trim pump and the solenoids. I discovered that when my trim pump wasn't working, if I played with the connection between the trim pump and the solenoids I could get it to work.

I tried cleaning the connectors with an electrical connector cleaning spray I got at radio shack, but it didn't help. I can't get a wire brush on the connections due to the way the plug is designed. Does anyone know if I can get new plugs to match OEM? Should I just get some universal plugs and splice them in? Given that there wasn't a lot of slack in the wiring, I'd probably have to splice in another few inches of wire. Are there any special type of marine plugs, or will type of plugs be ok?

Sorry, winter has me off my game. 1999 Volvo 5.7 GSPEFS with SX-M drive.

Maybe you can help me with the "which trim pump". As far as I know, there is only one trim pump in the boat. The trim pump that makes the outdrive go up and down. It sits on top of a little white reservoir that holds ATF.

Re: Trim Pump - Dirty Connection Issue

You would need the complete trim pump harness (item 16) from HERE List is around $103

I am assuming you are referring to the sockets for the relays. (Volvo doesn't use solenoids for trim)
