Trim switch malfunction

I have an Alpha I with the standard controls. I can't trim up. Down works but not up. However, the trailer button works fine, which leads me to believe that its an electrical problem, not hydraulic. The trim up switch does work, however, when the sterndrive is in the upper range, like in the trailer position. But I can't use it to adjust trim while underway. Just got the boat back, didn't have this problem before winter storage. My mechanic replaced the bellows and shift cable, could he have inadvertantly screwed something up in the process that is causing this. After the bill I'd rather figure this out myself because it sounds pretty simple. Any ideas, thanks?

The trim sender switch was probably moved when he redid your bellows......
You could adjust it your self or bring it back to him....
He should have checked it for proper operation before returning your boat, IMHO.....;)
You don't say what year you are talking about, but the link below will give you an idea how to proceed if you do it yourself.....http://www.boatfix.com/merc/Servmanl/6/6covr3.pdf

Yes the mechanic could screw up with the trim sensor, possiblily you need to re-set it. Not a big problem.

Sounds like your mechanic didn't adjust the trim limit switch on the drive. It's simple to do yourself.
Here is a link to the instruction sheet for changing the swtich and sender, but it also describes how to adjust it.
