my motor wasnt working I took the plug lose and had volts at yellow-blk 12vdc red- blk other switch position 12vdc so I took blue cover off went in the motor and the brushes were stuck and replaced now the motor runs both directions but tabs not moving coupling good to pump.I unwired the motor so I could test solenoids they do click each one.I did change the trim oil I had red oil but a freind sold me clear regular trim oil is this a possible problem.Ive taken this thing off 4 times now any advice would be greatly appreciated. Please dont tell me take to the shop as the other board did I think its air locked or something.

Re: Trim Tabs

Either trim fluid or ATF work fine. What make of tabs do you have? Maybe one of us can come up with some bleeding instructions for you.

Bennett trim tabs use ATF. Bennetts "should" bleed by cycling them. If not, crack a fitting back aft and run until fluid comes out. YOu should already have fluid in the rear cylinders so getting them going should be pretty easy.

Re: Trim Tabs

I have Bennett tabs I just took the unit back off to check some things. I took the hoses off and ran the motor no fluid came out either side. This has really puzzled me.Im going to double check to see if pump is actually turning tomorrow.Theres a srew on the pump what is it? Should I take the bottom of the pump off to see if the vanes are actually rotating.Could the solenoids be stuck or need cleaning? Well Ill check in tommorrow with the details of how it went.Boy having a boat is fun fun fun when its working
Thanks guys

Reel-Break,

Tom McGow from Bennett Marine here. Are you sure its is a Bennett? Our Covers are a smokey lexan, not blue. Blue would be Boat Leveler Brand. If it is a Bennett, let me know what you found, I am sure I can help.

Tom McGow
Bennett Marine
