Trim/tilt pump diagram

Once more I made the mistake of relying on my Seloc manual. Upon disassembly of the trim/tilt pump I find my particular unit [The trim/tilt pump is the two wire, two ram model] has parts not mentioned in the Seloc manual. According to Seloc my pump unit should have three internal springs and 3 check balls as well as two poppet valves. My unit has only one poppet valve and two springs, one small, one large, four check balls one of which is much smaller in diameter then the other three. There is also several small parts not mentioned or described by Seloc. Two tiny brass washers, a brass insert that is inserted into one end of the longer spring.and a small metal plug or spacer. The problem I am having is trying to determine where the plug or spacer goes. This part resembles a metal plug or spacer. Is disc shaped about 1/8" in thickness with a diameter that matches the brass insert and brass washers, roughly 3/16" in diameter. I am fairly certain this metal spacer is sets atop the poppet valves check ball. So order of parts for poppet valve assembly would be this: poppet valve seat-check ball-spacer-spring-brass insert-two brass washers. Might anyone know if this is correct?

Does this help or do you need part numbers as well?

Re: Trim/tilt pump diagram

... i think Matthew is referring to the interal parts of the actual pump when removed and dismantled off of the motor housing. Here are a few links i found on this tricky topic. Some dating back 5, 6, years all excellent reference material. I'll use these later myself when it comes time to get this done on my own.

If you can appeal to the Mods of this forum, have them restore the pics from the 1) thread response #5. Scaaty provided a great picture of what you may need. Also post 4) response #11 may have what you seek.

Update: Scaaty reposted the pics in thread 1) ty Scaaty

We use sites to host our pics. Some use photobucket I use comcast because it is my IP and I get like 20 Megs of storage space with no restricitions. After a period of time people clean their old stuff and add new. That is why the pics are gone. I typically leave them for about a month then delete them.

Yep, I think I have cleaned up my Photobucket 3 times on these old pix. Just did a full clean up again, and due to the PM, I have just put them back on, and will leave them up, as they seem to always be needed.
Hope this helps, and glad I never had to dig into mine.
Anyway, try the links again..PM me if they don't show..

Re: Trim/tilt pump diagram

To all who posted.
Thanks for all of the information.
I fixed mine for a couple of bucks instead of $150 for a complete valve body.
The advice on putting the plug in the hot water to get it apart worked great.
I used the smallest "O" ring that Autozone sells in an assortment and it was a little too big but apparently is going to work anyway.
Thanks again.

Re: Trim/tilt pump diagram

the little square ring in briggs carb kit (from other threads) fits nicely. I've rebuilt 3-4 of the $150 valves bodies so far this year. Based on the guts of those 3-4 I think a home job done carefully with briggs is going to be a better pump. the $150 has sloppy innards. they have six shims - two more than normal max. and the pressure is still under 1200psi. and they stick a ball bearing in the check valve to get extra push against the seat and it still bleeds off to 300psi. Until they come out with a revised version the old one with briggs is better.
