I drive a Jeep (Yes, I have leaking/flooding/puddles issues and I am very pissed.) Anyway, I was looking around on ebay and saw a 1999 K5 Blazer - The two door Tahoe thing. WOW!!! That truck looks like a truck. This new breed of truck is horrible. One of the reasons I like my Wrangler is because it has that truck look to it. Even pick-ups are (hate to use the word and plese don't ban me) faggy looking. There was really no point to this thread. Just wanted to make it clear that I don't like the new trucks (Cars) that are on the market.

This wasn't meant for the "Boat Topics and Questions" area of the forum. Sorry...

Re: Trucks...

Hate to say it, but the nicest small size SUV on the market now is the Hyundai Tuscon.

Jeeps are supposed to be ugly, that's the point. It's UTILITY.

Re: Trucks...

a truck with 4 wheel independant suspension is not a truck. rear axle must be solid.

And if it comes with a Class I receiver, it is NOT a truck.

Re: Trucks...

I differ, Noel.

A real truck has AWD or 4WD, at least 9" ground clearance and a tow rating over 5,000lb. Oh, and a low range in the transfer case.

There may have been no point to the thread, but it does a pretty good job of insulting about half of iboats members.

A Jeep Ute is not a truck, it is an image vehicle popular with wusses who want to appear to be rugged outdoorsmen. A truck is a vehicle intended to do real work and not intended to impress anyone.

Aww, mine counted as a truck right up till JB mentioned the 9" of ground clearance thing. :( I just measured 8.5" from the frame to the concrete.
Eric

Re: Trucks...

Aww, I also didn't notice the 4low requirement. Oh well, at least I own one real truck, only problem is it's spread out across my entire shop and some of my yard. :p One day it'll be a restored 1971 Land Rover IIa :D
Re: Trucks...

Why would anyone be insulted by another's idea of what a truck is and what a truck is not? To take it personally would be pretty silly, in my opinion. And I agree---if it has 4-wheel independent suspension, it ain't a truck! Let's just recognize that market forces are at work here...the SUV craze is still going strong, and Detroit (and the foreign manufacturers) is not too proud to pervert the SUV concept to any length to sell the things.

4WD is for people who can't drive in the dirt. 9" ground clearance is for people who cannot steer.
5000 Lb tow rating is for people whose boat is way to big.
Low range is for the people who cannot control the throttle.

:D
