Ayuh,.....

I use Pacasa,+ host my pictures on a remote site, then direct linking from there.....
Resizing to 360 or 480 works Perfectly here at iboats......

Use photobucket dot com.
Upload from your computer and it gives you the option of what size you want to make them.

Hehe well...

If you know you'll never need to print the pics or show them on a large screen small pics are fine. I typically keep my camera on the highest settings possible because you never know when you're going to get a great picture. When I manage to get one of those I want it made of as many pixels as possible.:)

As others have said you'll need some type of image editing software and you have many choices available. My recommendation for you is Picasa. I use it to edit and organize all my digital pictures. It also comes with a free online gallery similar to photo bucket that you can upload to straight from Picasa. The only complaint I have with Picasa is with the online gallery they don't like you linking individual images. This may have changed by now but it was the case last time I checked. If so, services like Photo Bucket are probably better for hosting images for posting to forums. Another option would to purchase a web hosting account and link them from there.

If you want a no nonsense utility to do resizing and other basic operations, IrfanView is very popular and also free. Google it.:)

To resize pictures with just a right click of your mouse you should get the free Microsoft app that will do it. The default mode just resizes your picture to a diffenent file name or you can optionally resize the original picture.
