Next plan is to get a temporary fuel tank, about 5 gallons and go for a ride using that as the source for the fuel.Think you found your issue...next question...how did the water get in there and how will you stop/ fix it ??
Thank you for the reply. I will google and learn. The vent fitting near your fill port on the hull is 5/8". The line should have an immediate loop after the vent to prevent water
Google USCG cfr fuel system requirements
Also ...where are you getting your fuel ?? There are certain places where I won't buy gas due to there poor maintenence on there equipment which increases the chance of water in the fuel. Never buy fuel when the underground tank is being filled by the truck !! Never buy from stations that don't sell much fuel, busy stations will have fresh fuel more often. Without that loop in the vent line, any water at all gets funneled into your tank especially from spray hitting that vent. I have had that issue in years past...Next plan is to get a temporary fuel tank, about 5 gallons and go for a ride using that as the source for the fuel.
Please see below about your question... I am not sure how this water got in there..
I looked at the vent that exists, and did not see a source for the leak. Neither did I see a loop in the vent like I read somewhere it should have.
perhaps remove that and run a vented fuel cap?
I have used the 30 gallon Craftsman drum shop wt dry vac on the tank. Then i duct taped a section of 5/8" vent hose to the vacuum line..Also ...where are you getting your fuel ?? The tank gas been try and in the heat for several days...but yes, it coukd have been an insurance. Never mindNot sure I would use a shop vac with arcing brushes and open framed motor for emptying a fuel tank. The fuel vapors go thru the motor.
It's a miracle you didn't blow up

That got into the corners of this tank.
My petrol supply is rotated regularly. Its a shell station on a state highway. Which on tuesdays has 10cent per gallon price cut.
I just put in 5 gallons. Reset all electrical connections and taped any moving cables..
The vent hose was not looped for the "P" trap effect.
I bought new hose. Then Installed the new vent cap and this fancy anti slosh wizbanger.
I will try to take it out Thorsday ...
Thanks for reading
