Hey JR ,got room for me in the Bunker, ill bring a couple of candles of course, might keep me outa the doghouse.:%

Yah Sure You Betcha Tree! They will never get me ol' black anchors I say!! 8)8)8) ps Now you and Eric can get along I hope!:$

Don and I get along, just different opinons on some things.

And I can understand the aresols and r12, was that not a fact that all, or most in the sceintific community agreed on (I can't recall much about it)? Unlike global warming where there is a fast difference in opinions on how much humankind in contributing to it.

I'll keep my old light bulbs, thank you very much.

OMR, should I bring some of the old bulbs with me to the island? :$

Nah Eric, I don't have shore power, n' the diesel generator is noisy n' smells. Bring Coleman gas lanterns, flash lights, fishin' gear, firepower, yer boat n' yer tower n' all. Bow n' arrows would be good so you n' Tree could go out n' get some meat to put in the pot. We could have some great BBQs! JR ps The lake has fish and "crawdads", so the ol' fish heads et al won't go to waste at Ruby Ridge island. I hope Hillary doesn't appoint Janet Reno if she wins or we could have some big trouble on RR island!

Yes Rolmops, most Liberals like their governments active! Bro Haut has a soft spot for kids, n' lets his emotions cloud his judgement, (as do many Libs). He's for public child spanking Cops,Courts,Social workers n' Prisons. Seattle Libs seemed to get sympathy here on iboats for boo Cops, Courts, Social workers n' Prisons. N' maybe you all want the light bulb Cops, Courts, Social workers n' Prisons. After we build all that stucture you want outa your "active government", we will not be able to defend ourselves anymore as all the money n' effort will go to these serious Liberal nany government projects, and most of us will be in jail for keepin' our old 2 stroke motors n' all. Do ya think if we pray to Mecca five times a day n' force women ta wear burkas they well let us live? JR

The title of this thread makes me want to play Jeopardy.

Me: "I'll take Continental Competitions for $100 Alex."

Mr. Trebek: "Two years to change EU light bulbs"

Me: "How long does it take a typical European to change a light bulb?"

Oh Murky,
Quite a ways from the light bulb.
The phrase was : I like the idea of governments actively taking steps to LOWER THEIR POWER BILLS. Mostly because ,if they spend less I will have to pay less taxes. So please forgive my ignorance on the subject of the big brother type of government that you fear will come into being as a result of energy saving measures.
I do see where you come up with these statements though.I suspect,as a child ,you like most middle Americans, were brought up to believe that unbridled capitalism is the American way and therefore the best way.
Never worry .Most Russian children were brought up to believe that communism is the best way and capitalism is evil, while European kids were indoctrinated to believe that a little bit of everything (as in social democracy) is superior to both Russian and American ideas.Of course the truth is somewhere in the middle and a bit different for all of us.
Fact is that unbridled capitalism is great for the rich and disastrous for the poor.Communism breeds medeocracy, and is great for the bureaucrats, but real lousy for would be capitalists.Social democracy takes the sting out of the extremes and tries to be government with a social conscience.
Please do not presume that I am a liberal or a republican. If you feel the need to hang a name plate on me,call me a social democrat with a conscience. The sort of conscience that makes me ride a bycicle to work and that makes me use 1957 two strokes for quaint reasons.
And as for light bulb cops......Please do remember who greatly expanded the often not so legal phone tapping policy of government.

And to think, it all started with cigarettes, which are still legal mind you. Where exactly are the pro choice people when our rights are taken away? Well on the horizon, cooking oils, fast food, soda pop, but condoms are going to be given away for free.

Freedom, it's a tough thing to live with...................

Oh Murky,
Quite a ways from the light bulb.

True but I could not resist the opportunity to expose the potential downside of another nany government agenda, (that you may or may not be for). Can't read that sharp mind of yours!

The phrase was : I like the idea of governments actively taking steps to LOWER THEIR POWER BILLS. Mostly because ,if they spend less I will have to pay less taxes.

I know I took a snippit of your statement, (to show a point), but not at your expense; Rolmops. Solution: Dispand the IRS, Dept of Education would be two good places to start. If ya think a little bit there is lots more we could shut down, n' that would decrease the power cornsumption of the ol' government, which would be real good.

So please forgive my ignorance on the subject of the big brother type of government that you fear will come into being as a result of energy saving measures.

As a capitalist: I luv to save energy, as an American I dislike: "we have to do something". Government is very inefficient: Rolmops, at everything accept: GROWING LARGE.

I do see where you come up with these statements though.I suspect,as a child ,you like most middle Americans, were brought up to believe that unbridled capitalism is the American way and therefore the best way.

Come on now Rolmops, this is beyond a mind read, now yer psychoanalyzin' me childhood. I like capitalism, but I liked Teddy Roosevelt too!

Never worry .Most Russian children were brought up to believe that communism is the best way and capitalism is evil, while European kids were indoctrinated to believe that a little bit of everything (as in social democracy) is superior to both Russian and American ideas.

I know the Russians and Europeans think they are better then us Rolmops. They really resent us 'cause us inferior Americans seem ta dominate 'em in most ways. A real shame eh?

Of course the truth is somewhere in the middle and a bit different for all of us.

Nah, I don't agree with the fuzzy stuff Rolmops.

Fact is that unbridled capitalism is great for the rich and disastrous for the poor.

Don't know what ya mean by "unbridled", (same as wife beating is bad?), but I think just the opposite: Capitalism floats all boats Rolmops!

Communism breeds medeocracy, and is great for the bureaucrats, but real lousy for would be capitalists.

Nah, wrong again Rolmops, (sorry for the arrogant statement, [wrong]), 'cause yer statement is in fact: wrong! Communism is good for ol' Uncle Joe n' Chairman Mao, n' Fidel; but it's REAL BAD for everyone else Rolmops. What ideology has killed, (murdered would be a better word), more people then any other philosophy in history?

Social democracy takes the sting out of the extremes and tries to be government with a social conscience.

Thats what you think, not me!

Please do not presume that I am a liberal or a republican.

Didn't think I did, I guess I will reread me post, I jus' wanted to take advantage of a snippit of yer post.

If you feel the need to hang a name plate on me,call me a social democrat with a conscience.

Don't feel the need to hang any name on ya, except maybe: friend.

The sort of conscience that makes ride a bycicle to work and that makes me use 1957 two strokes.

That's something I can get behind. If they try ta take yer motor away ya wanna hang out with me n' Plainsman n' Tree?

And as for light bulb cops......Please do remember who greatly expanded the often not so legal phone tapping policy of government.

Look you can't boo at a game or keep score, and the game can't be tag, dodgeball, football, baseball unless its a rubber ball, king of the hill, and choosing teams must be done by secret ballot not to strain anyones self image. Soccer or nothing below age 12. Toss in that you now have to flush twice to SAVE water. Mind numbing.

Well Merc,I do believe that there are a thousand shades of grey as sure as the new lamps will soon be available in whatever shade you want them.
As far as the thousand shades of grey are concerned, all I can do is offer you a virtual "golden Molson" and give you a toast before we discuss them.

Can I have a Blue instead?
