I have a 1986 23' Proline C.C. And I have some serious questions. I have searched the forum and threads and have not found the answers I am looking for. Several issues... First after oiling the final piece of teak I went to install it and the what shuld have been saw dust on my bit was actually a wet paste. Meaning I have moisture in my transom. I took the bit and dug around and it didnt seem to be rotted. However it is a 1986 and I know wood was used. What can I do for additional checks without damaging the transom? Second; If I do find rot how do I take the top shell off? Is it glassed to the hull? Do I have to make any cuts? If so where? Im sorry I know very little about these things I am new to project boats but I love the old school fishing boats... I know there is mould in the bilge are and on the tank, but the floor seems very solid not spungy anywhere, does'nt flex anywhere.... Seems to be solid. I just spent the winter repainting, rewiring, and redoing the teak so before I tackle any other issues I would like to use the boat this season if I can.... Please advise.
