I'm going the other way. Wife saved up a couple of hundred and her brother gave us a Cabelas gift card for another hundred, and she told me to go get a fish finder with it. I'm lookin at stretching the budget and getting the HDS5.

Heck, it's got wonderful sonar, GPS, mapping, and you can add on

Marine weather
Multiple slaves
Whatever else they dream up in the future.

I think I'll watch for it in the bargain bin (open box)

It helps that I netted the 2 biggest bass that came into the boat this year, because they were on her line.

As much as I liked it, I returned it today. Just couldn't justify spending the money. Pre-ordered the Humminbird 597ci HD DI through Amazon for $569 instead. Has everything I need, plus down imaging for almost $200 less. I can get weather updates from my phone and not have to spend the $30 a month for the XM subscription. If you plan on getting one, there is a $50 rebate for all of the HDS units until Jan 10th.
