Re: Uniform rant
I don't really agree with all the reasons schools have for enforcing a uniform policy. I have never been to a school that had one but if I had, you better believe that my parents would of made me wear it. The reason is, and have been mentioned, that is the rules. You have to follow the rules, you may not want to, but you do. You may not like the rules, they may not seem fair, thats life. It sucks, and I feel your pain. There are a lot of rules I don't like, but I follow them. You had a chance to influence the rules by a vote, but the secret society withheld that information from you and only invite people that would vote their way, really? I mean I love a good conspiracy theory as much as the next guy, but Big Uniform did not get together with the school board to conspire a way to screw the hard working people of your town out of their money.
I don't like school uniforms at public school. I don't like that people that think taking away individuality for the sake of a "level playing field" is a good idea. Sure some kids will have better clothes and some will be picked on about their clothes. It's part of growing up. I got picked on pretty good in the third grade because my shoes looked like adidas but they had four stripes. It's what my parents could afford at the time.
I understand if you don't like the uniform rule but it is the rule and now you have to set an example for your kids. Which will it be? One hand you could teach them certain rules don't apply to them and it's up to them to pick which one to follow, and on the other you could teach them that yes some rules suck but you have to follow them and find way within the system to change them. If it is like you say, and there are a lot of parents that don't like this policy, get together and go to school board meetings and voice your opion and get it brought back up to a vote. This time show up and vote.
Oh an if you decide to send them a letter, please use the space bar after a period. It will make it easier to read and they are more apt to listen to you.
