Universal/Semi-universal covers

Hey all!
Couldn't find a better subforum, so I'll just post this here. Long story short, my canvas is ripped to shreds. I parked my boat at a place to have new canvas made over the winter, but the guys flaked out on me and didn't make a cover. I shopped around and the soonest someone could get me a cover would be the end of June and at a premium price... I'd like to get her in the water before then with more than just a cheap tarp... I see a lot of covers out there for around $200-$300 and I may just go that route for this year. To tide me over if you will. Problem is that most of the covers I'm seeing require straps that go under the boat or around a trailer. My boat is docked at a marina so it's in the water all the time. Can anyone recommend a cover that would fit onto a boat using maybe a drawstring, bungees or something I could press a few snaps into?
Any insight would be great, thanks!

If you're looking for something to "tide you over", get the cover that best fits your boat. Take it to a local upholstery shop and have them sew in either a drawstring or bungee around the bottom (I recommend the drawstring....easier to adjust up any slack). It would be a minimal charge and would at least get you covered until you're ready for a custom fit job.

Have no idea what boat you have, where you are located. So this is all I can offer. We bought a cover from SG. It is "universal" and
fits our 20' boat very well. It does have straps, but the elastic drawstring keeps it in place with winds under 50 mph. Never have used
the straps yet. It keeps the boat dry. we paid $89.

That might not be a bad idea... Heck, I could probably even have my neighbor do it. It never occurs to me that I can simply modify this kind of thing...

That's not a bad idea either. As long as it has the drawstring, that's the main thing I'm looking for.
I'm in Cleveland and it's a 19' boat, so very similar situation. $89 is a steal too... I may have to look into that.

Thanks guys!

Re: Universal/Semi-universal covers

I have a "universal" cover for my Cobalt that is of the strap and bungee type and it spends all season in the water. Instead of messing with the straps, I simply hook my bumpers onto where the straps would fasten. Two midship and two aft (and built in hooks on the bungee at the bow) and it holds in place reliably.
