It looks like the thread of 2004 is starting to unravel, three prosecutions in Ohio’s biggest county are starting smell like cover-up. Prosecutors say these cases involve "rigging" the recount in Cuyahoga County (Cleveland), where tens of thousands of votes were shifted from John Kerry to George W. Bush, or else never counted.

Ironically this recount was not forced by the Democratic Party, but by the Green and Libertarian parties. They charge the recount was fraudulent due largely to the kinds of irregularities with which the Cuyahoga poll workers are now charged. Those charges carry sentences of up to 18 months in prison each.

The ballots from the election are being preserved. But the Cuyahoga prosecutions provide more evidence that we still don't have a reliable vote count for the election that gave George W. Bush a second term.

Plus look what is happening in Wyoming, Cheney’s home state wow .the fellow that lost the race is not calling for the recount because he would have pay for it out of pocket.

He is looking towards the next election and see if he can get an honest election that time for whoever is running.

<< He recount is planned for sometime this month, said Liz Howell, one of three Sheridan residents who plans to participate.

“If citizens want to exercise their constitutional and legal right to ensure our elections are accurate, great,” Trauner said Thursday sfrom his home. “But obviously I don't have anything to do with this.”

Trauner lost to incumbent Republican Barbara Cubin by 1,012 votes out of 193,369 cast in the Nov. 7 general election. The margin was too great to mandate an automatic recount, and Trauner did not request a recount, which he would have had to pay for. But he did write a letter to the state canvassing board asking it to look into two specific situations. >>

Nice editorial tree but you need to stick to the facts.

CLEVELAND -- Three elections workers in the state's most populous county conspired to avoid a more thorough recount of ballots in the 2004 presidential election, a prosecutor told jurors during opening statements Thursday.

"The evidence will show that this recount was rigged, maybe not for political reasons, but rigged nonetheless," Prosecutor Kevin Baxter said. "They did this so they could spend a day rather than weeks or months" on the recount, he said.

Kerry lost, thank God.

For the sake of argument, what if it could be proved that Kerry won Ohio? That gives him the election. Does that push Bush out, or just send responsible electoral officials to jail?

Re-writing history seems to be all the rage following 20/20 hindsight.

Let's recount them all. All the way back to George Washington.

That will tie up the government in knots for decades which might not be a bad thing.

I read it too. That's why my question is a hypothetical one, at least for now. Who knows, maybe this lazy recount case will spur a valid recount. But you righties are not willing to entertain the thought, are you?

I think he means "attempted" theft. The Dems tried but failed. At least on the national level. Wisconsin on the other hand... :'(

Yup, as Bro Haut said, we got a Dem Girl Governor out of the last theft here on the Northern Left Coast, an' that goes with the twins, (Can't vote well did a li'l thievin' earlier from Slade). This worthless State has three Liberal Gals runin' things. The tennis shoe gal is real smart too, (her vote saved us all from missile defense)! Guess Bro Haut will spank me for whinnin' so I better shut up now. JR8)

JR sarcasticly, "her vote saved us all from missile defense".

You actually buy into the one-vote disaster crap? "Blankety-Blank's vote against the Whatsit Bill and..." I thought you were smarter than that, JR. That goldang Blankety-Blank must be the most powerful goldang politician in the whole goldang world. Seems like every goldang state has a goldang Blankety-Blank ruin it for every goldang body! What, like it was 99-1 and Blankety-Blank was the 1 and now the bill is dead? Get real. It takes 51 Blankety-Blanks, not one. Biggest campaign bullschidt line in existence. Sheesh! Somebody on Planet Earth actually buys it. I'm disappointed in you, man.

Hmmmmm. If "tens of thousands of votes" were switched from Kerry to W on an accellerated recount, who is getting prosecuted for the bogus first count??

Hey Willy, I never said I was as smart as you. You are right: it was a party line vote, (51 to 50) and she or Maria Can't Vote Well both did the dirty deal as did every other Dem and Jumpin' Jim Jeffords, (I actually like Maria a li'l better, as she showed some hair standin' up to Algore on encription matters in the early 90s in all, when she was still in the House), 'sides Maria is a li'l better lookin' and a li'l smarter as she knows that OBL doesn't do public works projects in all. Did ya hear that one Willy, (even a Lib would find that one a li'l funny)? Guess which way your party voted? Yup, Yah sure ya betchya. JR I may not be to smart, but I know OBL isn't doin' public works projects! Talk to ya Tomorrow!
