upgrading the ignition in my 4.3 Mercruiser

I am upgrading the ignition in my 4.3 merc, its in a 1996 Larson.
I am having a hard time finding a wiring diagram for it. I need to what the wires off the original ignition module plug do. The wires in the plug are in a single row and are as follows.
1) Grey, 2) Black, 3) Purple, 4) White/Red stripe, 5) White/Green stripe, 6) Purple/White stripe, the 8th slot isn't used and 9) is White/Green stripe
If anyone knows or could give me a link to a correct wiring diagram I would much appreciate it.

Serial numbers are best when asking about a motor
Being a 96 and listing Pur/Wht wire it should have a TBV ignition. The pic shows the TBV module and knock module. You probably don't have the knock module

@alldodge, thank you very much for the schematic, unfortunately it isn't the same as mine. The wires from my module are clean and easy to tell the colour and I don't have a tan or a yellow wire. What serial number should I be posting? The one from the boat or the one off the engine? Actually I will add both this evening.

You have a TBV ignition module, it's just the older style which uses a different connector. Its no longer made and if it needs to be replaced then there is a kit to change over to new design. The pic below is showing the newer design but where the wires go is the same except the Tan/Blue is not there

the module is wonky, it has fried the tach and will not go to base timing and the low oil, high temp alarms go nonstop.

Thanks for the info alldodge. I got the new setup wired in and she seems to run pretty good.
