upgrading tstats on a 1986 140 evinrude

I think I read somewhere in this forum about repacing veritherms and removing the watercontrol valve. I did a search but can't find the post. 1) is this possible without replacing heads. 2) If so, what needs to done. Thanks :)

You dont have to replace the heads. Use the vernatherm's, caps, springs and related hoses - gaskets etc from a 1992 (or newer) V4 looper. <br /><br />It really cleans up the powerhead. <br /><br />Good choice!

here are the part #s i used<br /><br />333967 cover <br />329830 gasket <br />333858 spring<br /> 2 of each<br />-<br />you should already have these<br /><br />434137 tstat<br />320880 seat<br />330273 cap (keeps seat in place)<br /><br />hope that helps
