upgrading tstats on a 1986 140 evinrude

I think I read somewhere in this forum about repacing veritherms and removing the watercontrol valve. I did a search but can't find the post. 1) is this possible without replacing heads. 2) If so, what needs to done. Thanks

You dont have to replace the heads. Use the vernatherm's, caps, springs and related hoses - gaskets etc from a 1992 (or newer) V4 looper. <br /><br />It really cleans up the powerhead. <br /><br />Good choice!

here are the part #s i used<br /><br />333967 cover <br />329830 gasket <br />333858 spring<br /> 2 of each<br />-<br />you should already have these<br /><br />434137 tstat<br />320880 seat<br />330273 cap (keeps seat in place)<br /><br />hope that helps
