Ok, made a lot of progress tonight. I got the skin off the inside of the transom and here's what I found...............Quite a lot of rotted wood. You can see where I drove the wrecking bar pretty far into the double layer of ply on the port side. It's all rotted under there. Looks like the lower starboard side of the transom is the same.
I dug out the whole port side of the single layer of ply. Didn't take all that long. Needs some more work with the chisel and then I'll be grinding.
Suprisingly, as wet and rotted as the port side is, the stringer is absolutely bone dry.
