I agree with Don. If we have reached a point where we are willing to allow 4 man crews in skiffs with a 40hp Yamahas on the back, to hinder billions of dollars worth a commercial shipping, we are a sorry lot.

Its time to engage in some serious intelligence gathering and just start killing these people. Don't wait for hijackings - identify them and take them out. As it stands now, these bums are laughing at the world. I think its time to wipe the smiles off of their faces with something that goes BOOM!

I think the best part of this is the precedent that was set. Next time these thugs will think 2,3,4 times before trying to pull off this kind of crap.
Hopefully they will all be giving it a good re-think now.

Maybe, maybe not. This should have been done at square one. The genie will be a lot harder to get back in the bottle now that these scumbags have had so much success .
This is still just one rescue/show of force compared to hundreds of acts of piracy in this area that were rewarded with ransom payouts. If you are a Somali Pirate you have to like your success ratio so far.

If this is truly a line in the sand, and it is maintained in the face of a few nastier incidents that will happen now, and everyone hangs firm.....this may halt the onhgoing threat.
