The wife and I have this down, but now I am teaching my 16 year old to relieve the wife . . . Anyway, the trick for us is FRS radios. She doesn't really like it, but I coach her (and now him) down the ramp whether we are launching or retrieving. The most important part though is I always ask "is it in drive" or "park" or etc. I am so much more comfortable actually knowing that they have shifted out of reverse when I wave to them as I back off the trailer.
