Re: used boat

She's home! After a little delay in payment, all was accomplished today and we now have a new boat! At least new to us.
With all the recent craigslist scam alerts, I have to admit that I was a little scepticle. It took a litlle over a week to bring the deal together and right now we could not be happier.
Time to get busy and do a little cleaning, as well as move some equipment around. Lisa Anne will be her new name!
Looks like its time to change my boat picture. I hope to post a new picture taken in the same location. :p

Well now......this might be a problem, i didn't see where you invited all of us here at iboats to join you for the re-naming ceremony....afraid you cant preform the ceremony without at least 3000 in attendance( due to the Gods dislike for September) and as you are WELL AWARE, the Gods like RUM...Oh, and Chicken Bones in a brown bag.Get Busy...lots of invites to mail.

You got to be proud of that boat. I still like the TR avatar though.:)

Re: used boat

mthieme, you should have learned by now on here, that NADA boat values are practically worthless. there are too many factors, involved in pricing a boat. NADA is used by bankers, in ties, that have never seen or know anything about a boat.

Perhaps. I have seen NADA way off base before, along with the black book that the bankers use. I also think that it provides some base gauge that would help someone make a decision in many cases. In this case, they are in the ballpark and it should provide some piece of mind.
Do you think that applies to the BUC book too?
Also, my CPA uses Kelly because the values are typically higher than NADA.
Another thread, someone was asking $25K on a $15K boat that had more age on it. I can't in good conscience recommend spending the extra $ in that case, especially if they were taking out a loan.
I will also say that too many people dump too much money in a boat and expect to get the value and the repairs back out of it by reselling it.
Sorry, I'm starting another thread here!
