Looking to get a 383 for a 87 21 foot chris craft it currently has a 305 but I need more power. Has anyone got an engine off this place? Prices look pretty good. And does anyone know if my motor is a 1 or 2 piece rear main seal? Thanks

Just curious why you don't use the yellow pages, there must be 50
rebuilders in toronto, and if you give them your casting number
they can answer about seal question.

Start changing motors,more HP.
The upper drive has different gears for higher HP.
Start looking for a drive from a bigger motor.
The lowers on the bigger motors are the same(except the BBF)

I installed an engine (Mercruiser 3.0L) by USENGINE a couple of years ago..... It went fine and the owner is VERY happy with it.

I'll probably do my 454 with them when the time comes. I do live less than 30 min away though.

If I lived as far away as you do, I would probably find a local machine shop and show them what USENGINE does and see if they can do it.

That way if you have a problem you can drag the boat over there and have them take care of it instead of having to drag it here....or pull it and ship it all they way down here.....

Just saying.....
