I just had a remanufactured powerhead installed on my boat. I have the old one (1987 1.6L)and was told that it was not rebuildable primarily due to some scoring on one of the crankshaft rod journals. I can feel the roughness with my fingernail. I saw one post from a guy who claimed to be able to "rebuild" crankshafts. I am skeptical. What are your thoughts?

Outside of the crank, one piston is toast and there is a "corrosion" chunk about the size of a half of a lifesaver out of one of the block liners that a cylinder sleve fits into. I am thinking of attempting a rebuild in my own sweet time but don't want to spend time or money on a motor that will not be reliable.
