Vaseline?

Okay, all you guy that did the vaseline on fiberglass last year,,,,
How's it looking or holding up now?
I'm thinking of trying it this year on the topside. But interested in if anyone regrets doing it yet?

Only on virgin did it work .

Thats snake oil talk right there.

I will answer the question next year.
I did it so the boat looked nicer while I am slowly working on in.
Don't have the time to do anything major.
Snake oil looks good.
Scared my wife when I came home with big jar.

It only helped the sticker part of my boat that had some oxidation. I put it on the red part of my boat early summer last year and it still looks pretty good. A little oxidation is back showing but nothing like it was. It is like it was said earlier a temp fix.

gotta try it for the fun of it, then put the for sale (sail) sign on it.. Clean one owner I promise.. Only driven to church on sundays..

Vaseline works awesome. Its is def a quick fix, I put it on the cloudy red on my boat and after I was done it looked like new. It doesnt last that long tho. I applied it twice last year just to get that deep red out and the cloudyness away.

Wanted to add that Before the vaseline I spent over 100 bucks on wax and compunds which barely did anything after I put on the 2 dollars jar of vaseline I was amazed

I love how the guys who have never tried it, talk down about it

I used it at the beginning of the season last year, and I have yet to do anything this year, and it looks GREAT. No oxidation came back, and still shiny.

I say let people spend hours and money and call me silly. My silly butt will be boating while their arms are cramping up

I tried it on my IMP... It did a good job on the cloudiness of my boat, but didn't do much to cure the spottyness (not sure if thats a word). It lasted a little, but every bug got stuck to it, it took me forever to get removed and was still greasy close to a year later (unused boat). Of course without reapplying it, it didn't last all that long.

On the new boat I purchased an Oxidation removal kit, and so far am very pleased with the results. Took it from a cloudy, chalky, oxidized mess, to a presentable boat. It does take longer than the vasoline, but I'm hoping when done it will just need to be refreshed once a season.

Weird, I had no bug issues, nor any greasiness. I ran a buffer wheel over it after a couple weeks.

It works.....it may not be for everyone, but if you have an older boat, and don't want to spend a lot of money and time keeping it looking nice.....its the product to use.

You can see in the closer photo of the IMP hull there are black dots, those were the bugs getting stuck. No buffer but a lot of towels and it still was greasy.

I probably would have tried the vasoline on the new boat but for $45 I got the Meguiars products and they seem to be doing alright!
