Hey fellas, just wanted to share with you my latest experience.

Had some time to kill at lunch today, so I went to the local Walgreens (west side San Antonio, near work) to pick up some over the counter BS that I needed. I was in the store for 5 minutes, came out to find my Ford F150 (w/ alarm) broken into. Looks like robber drove a screwdriver through the key hole and was right in with no alarm sounding.

Items stolen: check book with $490 cash inside,(dont' normally carry this much cash, but I just won a friendly wager on the World Champion San Antonio Spurs), radar detector (on the dash in plain sight, probably the initial temptation), new portable jump starter (never even used it), CD's, not sure what else but that's all that strikes me at the moment. It all happened about 2 hours ago.

I called and cancelled checks, waited for police to do a report, had to request a finger print crew and wait even longer.

On my way out of Walgreens, I noticed a young man who parked on my passenger side "briefly" looking into my passenger window and I wondered what he was up to, come to find out.. he saw what happened but didn't realize what was going on at the moment, he said I just missed them myself.

He saw a young hispanic male in my truck with his car and girl waiting beside it. Couldn't give much of a description, 20-23 yrs old, 6', little facial hair, in a purple 4 door midsize car (make unknown). He couldn't hang around and talk to police as he had no drivers license himself and felt he might get in trouble himself, he did leave me a name and phone number (accurate, I'm not sure). This kinda stuff really chaps me, I'll probably be sick about it for days.

Thanks for listening, if you see the culprit let me know, I have a few more things for him.

If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have none at all.

Good day Gents,

Grandx

That really stinks! But at least you have your truck. If your car insurance dosen't cover contents check your homeowner's policy. I once knew a coach that had all the team equipment stolen from his vehicle at a restaurant and his homeowner's covered every cent including the cost of his camera.

Good luck and I hope tomorrow is a better day for you.

I know how you feel Grandx... Neighborhood brat broke into my truck a few years ago... Smashed a $350 window, destroyed about $150 worth of dashboard parts to steal a $1.98 radio that barely worked, and a few casette tapes...

If he'd of ask, I'd have give him the damn radio...

I guess most of us have had our run-ins with the mutants. They are everywhere. We'll probably get some post from some guy who lives in a fortress, who will claim they have no effect on him. But trust me, he is effected, but doesn't realise it.
These crackheads cost us billions. They take out lives while they ruin thier own. All we can do is try to minimise our exposure to them, and try to keep them from infecting our stuff.
But each year, it seams to get harder to do so.
I really worry about the up and comming generations much more than I do our own time.
This is because of a concentrated effort to impower the mutant, while removing our abilities to protect ourselves from them. Add to this, the concerted efforts to neuter law enforcement in any way possable, and by the time my grandkids are adults, they will have little if no, recoarse to the law.
I've been going to church a lot more lately. Maybee the answer is there, but I dunno.
We (and law enforcement) seem to be way outnumbered by mutants and those who proffit from them.

Thanks, gents and ... Ladyfish. Back at work today after taking off yesterday afternoon to price alarm system and fixing lock on door. New alarm $250, fix key lock that can't withstand another screwdriver $325... Can hardly believe a new lock costs that much and can be dismantled so easily. I'll probably sleep on it a couple of days and go fishing Saturday, heck there's no hurry.. nothing left in the truck to steal. I ran through the insurance scenerio, $500 deductible for the truck to fix the lock, and again another $500 deductible on homeowners to cover the contents... doesn't add up, looks like it's all mine. Have a good day all.

Sorry about your misfortune grandx.
This is the reason that children need some discipline when they are young, so they won't turn out this way. Gotta make them understand right from wrong when they are young.......before its too late. I guess you can't blame the parents for everything, but you gotta start somewhere.

By the way, I was rooting for them Spurs......and Tim Duncan IS the MAN!

Same scenario over a year ago gone less than 10 min from truck and everything was hidden. Window broken out cell phone, wife's purse (not much in it but takes time to get it all replaced) and $2000 camera outfit gone. All we can figure is someone watched us come out of the museum and go over to where we went then broke into the truck. Come to find out from the police that this sort of thing happens frequently in that area and they were less than helpful when it came to fingerprints (told they don't do that for this sort of thing) and would not even try calling the cell phone after I asked them to see if they could get someone to answer and I know you can trace those things. At least you got them to fingerprint and have a description. I wish there was a moral other than take it with you if you want to keep it but then again I know people who have had stuff stolen from their house including me.

Yes, I live in BFE too....And carry a large caliber weapon in case I do catch the piece of filth in action.
If your state doesn't allow CCH (concealed carry handgun), I feel for you. Get it passed in your state if you can.
Would it have helped in your situation...No of course not, but you never know.
I'm willing to bet this thug works that store all the time. If you have some extra time, I'd be setting up camp there and watch.
Get yourself a low-rider car if you can and put all kinds of fancy high-dollar stereo stickers on it, and maybe some fake looking goodies insinde. Sauce for the goose!

It's time for some good 'ol fashioned butt-kicking-take matters into your own hands action...In my opinion...

Find the trash and take it out. It would be one less wart on the ass of society.

H.

Re: Venting some anger

Hey Homerr, The first year Texas offered the conceiled handgun license I signed up went to classes and received my license. License expired after 5 years and I haven't found the time to renew it, have to pay again and burn a Saturday going back to class etc... If I had still had a current license, I probably would have had my handgun in the truck at the time and it would have been stolen with everything else. Can't see myself actually carrying the weapon on my person, but I guess that's the only way.

What gets me more than anything is the fellow that saw him, didnt' even take the time to note the make of car or license plate... nothing.. just a normal day to him.. he walked right past me after the incident and realized it was my truck and didn't turn around and say a word to me... If he had been the least bit concerned I may have been able to catch up to the thug and get the license myself...

Been a long week, I'm headed to Port Aransas this afternoon to prepare to go fishing tomorrow. Little north wind forcasted, but seas under 4', that's about as good as it gets down here. Ya'll have a nice weekend.

Sorry to hear that GrandX. I can't say how much I hate theives and the inability to protect your stuff because the thief's life is more precious.

I have had two cars broken into. Some junk stolen and a handmade pin that was priceless for my wife because it was made by her brother (who is in Iraq right now).

I hope they find the person although your stuff is long gone, the less people he steals from the better.

Round up these theiving scumbags, I say......
Send them over to Iraq, unarmed.
Tell them that the only way they'll get back to their homeland is if they break into somewhere, steal Saddam Hussein, and return with him to a prearranged spot ready for an airlift out!
I reckon they'd do it, they're bloody cunning enough!
Oh, the ones that fail proberly won't be seen again.............
Ross

PS No intention of disrespect to the men and women overseas, just a thought for society's trash.....
